There's typically a lot of overreaction early on in the season.
The lines will move a lot, giving us much value on players who don't perform as well to begin the season.

2023 NFL MVP Race
1. Tua Tagovailoa MVP Odds (+600) (Bet $100 to collect $700) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
Tua Tagovailoa's stat line looks like he's played two games this season. But he's played just one.
Tagovailoa threw for 466 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also fumbled one. So he'll have to keep the turnovers down if he wants to win the MVP award.
However, the Dolphins kept Tagovailoa away from any sacks. That's critical, too. He needs to stay on the field, especially knowing his injury history.
Tagovailoa's got one of the best duo receivers in the league. Tyreek Hill is also proving he's the best wide receiver in the NFL.
2. Patrick Mahomes MVP Odds (+600) (Bet $100 to collect $700) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
I don't want to panic yet. But Mahomes doesn't have a player like Tyreek Hill anymore. His best receiver in Week 1 was supposed to be Kadarious Toney, who dropped multiple passes and ultimately lost the Chiefs the game against the Lions.
But once Travis Kelce returns, Mahomes will have his security blanket. I wouldn't worry too much about Mahomes. But he's already losing ground to Tagovailoa in the MVP race.
3. Trevor Lawrence MVP Odds (+900) (Bet $100 to collect $900) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
It's Trevor Lawrence's third season in the NFL. He's going to bring it.
In Week 1, Lawrence delivered a 75% completion percentage for 241 yards. He added two passing touchdowns and an interception in that game.
Having Calvin Ridley at receiver will help bring Lawrence to the next level. But we can't get overly hyped just yet. Lawrence dominated a terrible Colts defense.
Let's see him perform against the top teams in the league first.
4. Justin Herbert MVP Odds (+900) (Bet $100 to collect $900) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
The Chargers were in a shootout against the Dolphins in Week 1 of the NFL season. The game didn't finish in Las Angeles' favor, but Justin Herbert was solid.
He completed nearly 70% of passes for 228 with one touchdown and no interceptions. He wasn't almost as good as Tagovailoa, and that's ultimately why the Dolphins won. But if he keeps the turnovers down, the Chargers will be a tough out with Herbert under center for the rest of the season.
5. Joe Burrow MVP Odds (+900) (Bet $100 to collect $900) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
Joe Burrow became the highest-paid player in the NFL and threw for only 82 yards. He finished with a QBR of 20.3 and fell in the MVP rankings.
It was a wet and rainy game against a difficult Browns defense. But there's no excuses. Many of his passes sailed over heads or just missed his target completely.
Burrow was a runner-up last year. He's got plenty of time to get back into the race.
6. Jalen Hurts MVP Odds (+900) (Bet $100 to collect $900) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
Jalen Hurts didn't perform at his best on Sunday against the Patriots. He led the Eagles to a win but only threw for 170 yards passing with one touchdown. Hurts also rushed nine times for only 37 yards and was sacked three times.
He didn't put up MVP-like numbers, but he's extremely capable of winning the MVP this year.
