The NFL season began with some shocking upsets and insane endings.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills lost in their opening games. Those three teams were the top three projected AFC teams entering the season.
The NFL Power Rankings will reflect what happened in Week 1.
2023 NFL Power Rankings
1. San Francisco 49ers
There were questions about Brock Purdy's ability to play quarterback heading into his second season.
That talk has diminished after Sunday's 49ers beatdown of the Steelers.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles could've lost on Sunday to the New England Patriots. They went up 16-0 and almost coughed up the lead multiple times. But the Eagles hung in there and earned a win in a challenging environment in Week 1.
3. Dallas Cowboys
A 40-0 rout against a division rival helped put the Cowboys in the three-spot heading into Week 2.
4. Detroit Lions
I hope the Lions aren't fooling us. A win against the Chiefs on Thursday Night was astonishing.
5. Kansas City Chiefs
Everyone's saying it. But I'll say it too. Once Travis Kelce is back, the Chiefs will be fine.
Plus, the Chiefs returned Chris Jones after he held out of Week 1. That's a significant acquisition for the defense.
6. Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa is now the front-runner to win the MVP award after performing against the Chargers in Week 1.
Tyreek Hill suggested that he'll earn over 2,000 yards receiving this season. He's on his way after Week 1.
7. New York Jets
If the Jets had Aaron Rodgers available, they'd be higher on the board. But Rodgers is likely done for the season. New York continued to say that it was a quarterback away. Now they'll be stuck with Zach Wilson again.
Still, if Wilson and the Jets limit turnovers, they'll win many games this season.
8. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens took care of business against the Texans in Week 1. Zay Flowers looks like a gem at receiver, but the Ravens lost JK Dobbins for the year. That's going to sting.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars escaped the Colts in Week 1. That's enough to keep them in the top ten.
10. Buffalo Bills
Everyone's talking about how bad Zach Wilson is for the Jets. But what about Josh Allen? He turned the ball over four times, made horrible decisions, and cost his team the win against the Jets in Week 1.
Ugly stuff.

13. Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow signed a massive contract and didn't deliver in Week 1. Bengals fans shouldn't panic yet, but the Bengals have dropped from No. 2 to No. 13 in one week.

I never thought I'd see the Giants in the bottom five of the NFL Power Rankings.
The good news is that there are still 16 more games and 17 more weeks before the playoffs. A 40-0 loss is the same as a 21-20 loss. The Giants can regroup.

It might be time to consider playing Malik Willis full-time.
