NFL Fantasy Start Em, Sit Em: 20 Players to Start or Sit in Week 17
NFL Fantasy Start Em, Sit Em: 20 Players to Start or Sit in Week 17
It's Championship Week for many of you in fantasy football!
Some leagues finish out a week in advance, while others will use the final week of the regular season for the Championship round.
Either way, this is where you win your league. Every move matters now. There's no looking back or re-dos.
Here are some of my suggestions for Week 17.
Quarterbacks To Play in Week 17
1. Rusell Wilson, Denver Broncos
2. Nick Mullens, Minnesota Vikings
Russell Wilson just added 238 yards passing for two touchdowns. He also rushed four times for 20 yards in Denver's loss to New England. But now he's got the Chargers, who have been awful in the second half of the season. Wilson figures to have a solid floor and a solid ceiling.
Meanwhile, imagine how legendary it would be to win your league with Nick Mullens at quarterback. Mullens added 411 yards passing for two touchdowns against the Lions. Yes, he also had four interceptions. But when you've got a guy like Justin Jefferson catching passes, you've got a whole lot of potential.
Russell Wilson struggled in Week 16. Can he bounce back in Week 17? Make sure you're hammering Wilson prop bets at DraftKings right now
Quarterbacks To Sit in Week 17
3. Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns
4. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
5. Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
Some of you have been using Joe Flacco over the last month. That has to end this week with a date against the Jets.
Meanwhile, after Brock Purdy's awful performance against Baltimore, I'd stay away from Tua Tagovailoa.
Finally, Derek Carr and the Saints must travel to Tampa Bay for a massive divisional game. There are better options than Carr, despite what he's done recently.
Running Backs To Play in Week 17
6. Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings
7. Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers
8. Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears
Ty Chandler didn't do much offensively last week. But he found his way into the endzone and proved that he would indeed have a role in the Minnesota offense moving forward.
Meanwhile, Aaron Jones finally had a Jones-like game last week after he ran for 127 yards against the Panthers. It's a little too late, but if you've had Jones on the bench, maybe it's time to play him when he's most needed.
If D'Onta Foreman is still sidelined, Khalil Herbert is a great option. He just rushed 20 times for 112 yards against the Cardinals.
Running Backs To Sit in Week 17
9. Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers
10. Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns
Austin Ekeler is just too unpredictable right now. He performed better than in recent weeks and will get some PPR points. But overall, there are better options elsewhere.
Jerome Ford found the endzone last week against the Texans but only rushed for 25 yards on 15 carries. It won't get any easier against the Jets this week.
Wide Receivers To Play in Week 17
11. Demarcus Robinson, Los Angeles Rams
12. Nico Collins, Houston Texans
Demarcus Robinson added six catches on six targets last week. He also secured a touchdown with 82 yards receiving against the Saints on Thursday. If you're desperate for a wide receiver, Robinson isn't a bad look.
Meanwhile, don't give up on Nico Collins. Collins caught four passes for 18 yards last week against the Browns. But with C.J. Stroud likely back, Collins should start to perform at a high level again.
Wide Receivers To Sit in Week 17
13. Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders
14. Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
15. Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers
Washington's offense has been miserable for most of the season. It won't get any better against the Niners. Stay away from the inconsistent Terry McLaurin.
Meanwhile, Chris Godwin might get you some catches and yards, but he's no Mike Evans. Evans has half of Mayfield's passing touchdowns this season.
Finally, Diontae Johnson was pretty much non-existent last week. Mason Rudolph didn't look his way. Meanwhile, if Kenny Pickett gets the start instead, Johnson's numbers could look even worse.
Tight Ends To Play in Week 17
16. Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans
17. Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
Dalton Schultz was involved in the action last week, earning eight catches on 11 targets for 61 yards. That's really solid for a borderline No. 1 tight end.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Likely is still getting lots of reps. He added three catches but earned 56 yards receiving against the 49ers last week.
Can Dalton Schultz step up and deliver in Week 17? Well, FanDuel is the place to bet on Likely props right now!
Tight Ends To Sit in Week 17
18. Darren Waller, New York Giants
19. Tyler Conklin, New York Jets
20. Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
Waller only saw five targets and brought down two receptions for 32 yards last week. Meanwhile, Tyler Conklin added four catches for only 36 yards. He doesn't typically make big plays down the field.
Finally, Pat Freiermuth didn't have a single target last week.
