NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Odds: Kobie Turner Surges Up Leaderboard in Final Week

The NFL award markets are flying around as they enter the final week of the regular season, and Kobie Turner is making headlines with his impressive performances for the Los Angeles Rams. Can Turner keep dominating and make his case for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award? Let's take a look at the latest odds.

NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Odds: Kobie Turner Surges Up Leaderboard in Final Week

The NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year is always an exciting award to track throughout the year, and this season is no different. Four of the last five have gone to edge rushing defensive ends or linebackers, with the exception of Sauce Gardner last year. There are three stars in contention as of Week 18, and they are racking up sacks along the way.

Jalen Carter has led this market for the majority of the season, but his reign could be coming to an end quickly as Kobie Turner is threatening to surpass him after coming out of nowhere. The Rams' rookie DT had a dominant game against the New York Giants in Week 17, delivering an incredible 10 quarterback pressures and coming up with a career-high 2.5 sacks. Both d-linemen have one last chance to make their mark in Week 18, and prove why they deserve the award.

Can Turner overtake Jalen Carter for the award in the final week of the season? Or will the standout top-10 pick from Georgia reaffirm his spot at the top? Let's take a look at the latest NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award odds and see where Carter and Turner stand heading into Week 18.

Jalen Carter Odds

The ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft was on a war path to win this DROY award. He was -450 odds just days ago, before Kobie Turner came out of the woodwork to challenge him. Carter now sits at -165 odds and is dropping daily. He maintains a 60% chance to win the award, but will definitely need to step up in the Eagles' final regular season game.

Carter has 30 total tackles on the year, including six sacks. He also has a 42-yard fumble recovery touchdown that he picked up against the Dallas Cowboys in recent weeks. Carter could really benefit from a sack or two in Week 18 against the weak Giants offensive line that Turner just exploited if he wants to reaffirm his top spot in the awards odds.

In some other award markets, teams resting starters may have an impact on the final outcome in Week 18. The Philadelphia Eagles are one of those teams, however, it is unlikely that Carter will be among those on the sideline. The Eagles are at the mercy of the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East division after losing to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17. Carter should still play a solid amount of snaps, as the Eagles are going to try their best to win in the event of a Cowboys collapse in Washington.

Will Anderson Odds

Will Anderson was the third overall pick in the 2023 draft, one behind his quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Texans ended up with the best draft in the league thanks to taking those two with the top three picks, and the future is bright in Houston.

The former Alabama superstar is sitting with +200 odds to bring home the award, but will have a tough time surpassing Carter with a similar resume. He currently has a nearly 30% chance to get it done, and will have to ball out against the Indianapolis Colts in a Week 18 showdown to prove himself as the rookie of the year.

Anderson has seven sacks on the season as part of his 44 total tackles, and has impressed throughout the campaign. He just had a big two-sack game against the Tennessee Titans in Week 17, which kept him in contention with the second-best odds. If he is able to lead his team to an unlikely AFC South division crown with some big defensive plays on Saturday night, don't count him out for this award.

Kobie Turner Odds

The Los Angeles Rams' third round draft pick has come out of nowhere to try and steal this award away. Turner has moved into the third-best odds after not even being listed two days ago. He now sits at +500 and is the dark horse to take over as DROY with one game remaining.

Turner earned a career-high 2.5 sacks against the New York Giants in Week 17, which also tied him with Aaron Donald for the single-season Rams' rookie record of nine sacks. Yes, matching one of the best defensive lineman of all time is pretty good company to start off a career.

The Wake Forest graduate nicknamed "The Conductor" has eight sacks in his last eight games, and has one final chance to make his mark in Week 18 against the San Francisco 49ers. Many starters will be resting on both sides, so Turner has an opportunity to penetrate into the backfield against Sam Darnold and the Niners' backups. Look for Turner to try to break Donald's sack record on Sunday and make one last push for Defense Rookie of the Year.
