Fantasy Football Buy Low, Sell High: 12 Trade Candidates Ahead of Week 1

The NFL season is set to start on Thursday! By now, you've likely drafted your team.

But that doesn't mean you need to sit back and let your team play in Week 1. If there's a way to improve your team, go do it!

Below, we'll provide 12 trade candidates ahead of Week 1 that you can buy low or sell high.

Did you embarrass your friends in your Fantasy draft or are they embarrassing you ahead of NFL Week 1? Lucky for you, we have over $5,000 in free bets in bonuses to use on the NFL! Even if your fantasy draft was weak, you can still brag about winning money!

Fantasy Football Players to Buy Low in Week 1

Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

As of early afternoon on Tuesday, September 3, Ja'Marr Chase isn't practicing and could be unavailable in Week 1 due to ongoing contract negotiations.

Chase likely went in the first round in your draft. If whoever drafted Chase is in panic mode, trade for him. The Bengals will eventually do what's right and give Chase his contract to get him on the field for Week 1. If not by Week 1, he'll be playing on the field soon enough.

Khalil Shalir, WR, Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills no longer have Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis on the roster. Therefore, while Keon Coleman is getting lots of love, it's more likely that Khalil Shakir will be the leading receiver on the Bills.

Shakir is familiar with the offense and has already caught in-game passes from Josh Allen.

If you're thin at wide receiver, you might be able to bring in a No. 1 receiver for your bench scraps right now.

Rico Dowdle, RB, Dallas Cowboys

More and more reports that Rico Dowdle will become the Dallas Cowboys' featured running back this season.

He's in a room with older veterans like Zeke Elliott and Dalvin Cook. Right now, in some leagues, Dowdle isn't even getting drafted. Sneak in a trade for Dowdle, if possible.

Jaleel McLaughlin, RB, Denver Broncos

Now that Samaje Perine is out of the picture, Jaleel McLaughlin looks poised for a solid 2024.

Javonte Williams is still the leader on the depth chart. However, McLaughlin will likely be used more in the third-down role and could add more catches and overall more significant plays.

Khalil Skakir to be bought low? Say Less. Make sure you're hammering Shakir prop bets at DraftKings right now!

Additional Fantasy Football Buy Low Players

  • Brian Thomas Jr., WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Jordan Mason, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Fantasy Football Players to Sell High Before Week 1

Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Indianapolis Colts

I know Anthony Richardson looked good in his small sample size last season. But ultimately, he's going to do a lot of running. Indianapolis will also look to get Jonathan Taylor many touches throughout the games.

That leaves little wiggle room for Michael Pittman Jr. Pittman could struggle to stay consistent throughout the season.

Stefon Diggs, WR, Houston Texans

Like Pittman Jr. with Indianapolis, Stefon Diggs earned captaincy with the Texans. But he struggled to gain 100 yards in most games last season with the Bills and is in a much more crowded wide receiver room with the Texans.

Good luck beating out Tank Dell and Nico Collins to stay relevant in fantasy football.

In Week 1, when Diggs only has a few catches for under 50 yards, you'll be ashamed you didn't trade him earlier.

D.J. Moore, WR, Chicago Bears

D.J. Moore is also in a crowded wide receiver room. The Bears just added Keenan Allen and drafted Rome Odunze. That's going to hurt Moore's value.

I'm sure he'll make a few nice grabs, but consistency will be hard to come by with so many different targets for Caleb Williams, the new No. 1 overall quarterback for the Bears.

De'Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins already admitted that they'll run with the hot hand. Miami drafted Jaylen Wright and has a healthy Raheem Mostert in the backfield. It'll be hard to trust Achane on a game-to-game basis.

His value is likely as high as it'll be. If he comes off a monster game, that'll be another time you'll want to sell him off.

Will Stefon Diggs' receiving production reduce in 2024 after his move to Houston? Well, FanDuel is the place to bet on Diggs under props right now!

Additional Fantasy Football Sell High Players

  • Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
  • Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams
