We're headed to Week 9 of the NFL season. If you're looking to make some changes to your squad to get better, use this week's buy low, sell high as a guide.
Fantasy Football Players to Buy Low in Week 9
Josh Downs, WR, Houston Texans
Josh Downs is coming off a 100+ yard game against the Houston Texans. He only caught four passes on nine attempts but scored a touchdown and played in 70% of snaps.
If you think that production is good, just look at what he's done with Joe Flacco under center. Downs saw 9+ targets in every start from Flacco during this season. He can be better than what he was last week.
Cedric Tillman, WR, Cleveland Browns
With Deshaun Watson throwing darts, Cedric Tillman is a must-buy. Tillman has earned 21 targets over the last two games and at least ten yards per reception in each game. He's also gone from around 30% of snaps to 90% last week.
I'm all in on Tillman.

Jauan Jennings, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Jauan Jennings is dealing with an injury. But when he's back, he'll have a more prominent role after Brandon Aiyuk's injury, which will keep him out for the rest of the season.
Before last week's game, Jennings led the 49ers in receiving yards. He'll be a tremendous asset for the 49ers in the second half of the season.
Sam Darnold, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Sam Darnold has thrown for 1,610 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. His QBR is 58.7%, which is above average.
No, he won't get you a lot of rushing yards. But he's a solid quarterback that can hold your team together. His floor is high if nothing else.
Additional Fantasy Football Buy Low Players
- Sam La Porta, TE, Detroit Lions
- Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants
Fantasy Football Players to Sell High Before Week 9
Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes is a borderline top-ten quarterback as of now. When using typical fantasy numbers, he hasn't even earned more than 19.2 any week this season. However, he still had his best week against the Raiders, adding 262 passing yards and two passing touchdowns.
That at least counts for something. Get rid of him while his name still has appeal.
Can anyone knock off the Chiefs as Super Bowl favorites? The latest odds show them widening the gap
Calvin Ridley, WR, Tennessee Titans
Does anyone really expect Calvin Ridley to see 15 targets again this season? Additionally, he saw eight targets against the Colts and caught no balls, and he saw another nine against Buffalo and caught just three passes.
Sell Ridley off his hot game.
DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
I expected big things from DeAndre Hopkins once he was traded to the Chiefs. Maybe it will take more time. However, your fantasy team doesn't have patience. You've got to win now, and he won't do it.
Hopkins caught just two passes for 29 yards from Mahomes in his first game with the Chiefs. I'm good.
Cade Otton, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Otton is still a top-tier tight end heading into this week against the Chiefs. But when Mike Evans returns to the offense, Otton's volume won't be nearly as high.
You can sell him at a high moment now. Eventually, he'll return to his usual stats of two or three catches a day.
Additional Fantasy Football Sell High Players
- Mitchael Pittman, WR, Indianapolis Colts
- Keon Coleman, WR, Buffalo Bills
