NFL Draft Odds: Cam Ward Overtakes Shedeur Sanders in First Overall Pick Odds for 2025 NFL Draft

As the NFL regular season came to a close, we highlighted the NFL Tankathon battle as team's raced to the bottom for the first overall pick. This season featured one of the largest collections of terrible teams in recent memory, and they were all fighting for NFL Draft positioning over the final month of the season.

The Tennessee Titans were awarded with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they just fired their GM Ran Carthon early on Tuesday morning. All eyes will be on the new hire to see who they'll target with this coveted draft pick.

The odds have already begun to shift, with Shedeur Sanders getting replaced as the favorite for the No. 1 draft pick by Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward. It's clear and obvious that the Titans are in desperate need of a quarterback star, but which of the two will they go with in April? Let's take a look at the latest NFL Draft odds and break down the line movement.

NFL Draft Odds: Cam Ward Surges to Top

Cam Ward lit up the scoreboard at Miami in his only year with the program, throwing for 4,300 yard and 39 touchdowns on one of the most prolific offenses in the country. He displayed tremendous accuracy, throwing only seven interceptions and taking home the best QBR in the entire FBS.

Now, Cam Ward is overtaking Shedeur Sanders in the race for the first overall pick, at least according to the latest odds. Over the weekend, Sanders debuted at -110 to go first, giving him a 52.4% chance. By the end of the early betting, Ward had moved to a -135 favorite, giving him a 57.3% chance, while Sanders dropped down to +115.

Part of the odds move can be attributed to the final bowl performances, with one ending better than the other. Ward capped off his career at Miami with three first half touchdowns in the Pop Tarts Bowl against a strong Iowa State Cyclones team. He proceeded to sit for the rest of the game, and the Hurricanes fell by one point in the end. However, Ward set the Division 1 career passing touchdowns record of 156 in the process, eclipsing Case Keenum by one score.

Later that night in the Alamo Bowl, Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes were hyped up to take on conference foe BYU and make a statement. All of the Buffs' stars were playing in the game, no one was allowed to opt-out for the draft on Deion Sanders' team. But the party didn't go to plan, with Shedeur throwing two interceptions and taking four sacks in an embarrassing 36-14 loss.

Many scouts commented that Sanders didn't look comfortable in the pocket and made a handful of bad decisions when facing pressure from BYU. The sacks led to a -36 rushing yard tally on the night, and the two interceptions didn't help his case as he threw for barely 200 yards out of his 313.5 projected total.

These odds will continue to shift back and forth over the next few months with the rumor mill churning out. The Titans will potentially leak who they like better at some point, or they could even trade back a few spots if the new GM is looking to stack draft capital. But this early line movement may show that scouts in general favor Ward over Sanders as a top prospect.
