Indianapolis Colts Starting QB Odds: Anthony Richardson Remains Favorite, Will Start Preseason Game vs. Ravens

The Indianapolis Colts just named Anthony Richardson Sr. the starting QB for their first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, but then will give Daniel Jones the nod for week 2 against the Packers.

These two will have their chance to play for the job, but right now it looks like Anthony Richardson has a firm grip on it. He's -350 at FanDuel and -280 at bet365, and these odds haven't moved a lot so far through the offseason. Unlike the New Orleans Saints starting QB race, there hasn't been any major jumps so far, but that could all change based on their performances over the next two weeks.

Is Richardson a safe bet to be a starter in Week 1 of the regular season, or could the more experienced Daniel Jones flash his skillset and steal the job away from the youngster? Let's take a look at the latest Colts starting QB odds ahead of their preseason opener vs. the Ravens on Thursday night.

Anthony Richardson should remain the starter in Indianapolis for another season, as long as he can stay healthy. Richardson got off to a strong start last year, then injured his oblique and missed a few games. Then he played two more, but was benched due to mediocre play. Finally after getting back in, he injured his shoulder in mid-October and was out for the season.

Richardson has been a very boom or bust player for the Colts in his limited action so far. Sometimes throwing a massive 60 yard bomb on the money for a touchdown while falling down, sometimes missing easy throws over the middle. He also passed it to the other team a few too many times last year. Richardson's eight touchdowns to 12 interceptions was not ideal, and he completed just 47% of throws last year, part of why he was benched early on.

Despite the struggles, he'll get another chance this year, partially due to the lack of any better options. It will probably be his best shot to continue on in the NFL, because if he struggles again, it'll be the end of the road as a starter.

Daniel Jones is definitely in the mix for this Colts job, though he's never taken over as the favorite. He's been a decent underdog since signing in Indianapolis in March, but has a shot to play this year, especially with Richardson's injury history. Will he beat him out for Week 1 if they are both healthy though? The sportsbooks aren't expecting it right now.

Jones wrapped up a tumultuous stint in New York with a mid-season exit in 2024, asking the team to release him when they decided to bench him down the stretch. He later landed with Minnesota, and rode the bench through their playoff loss.

Danny Dimes may not have a strong following with the Giants anymore, but he has a shot to win over a Colts fanbase that has been let down time and time again in recent years. Jones is just +220 at bet365 vs. his +255 odds at FanDuel, giving him a roughly 1/3rd chance of being the starter in Week 1. If you think he can prove the doubters wrong in the preseason and outplay Richardson, it's worth taking a shot on this tight race.

Riley Leonard +8000 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

This is a lot like the Saints QB race. It's two guys fighting, and then a third, very clearly backup on the roster. Riley Leonard was selected out of Notre Dame in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and the rookie will probably not see much playing time this season. But he'll be learning the ropes from these two.

It's important to note they are both injury prone, so it's not impossible for Leonard to potentially start a few games later in the season if called upon, but he isn't going to be out there in Week 1.
