Rory McIlroy has already won three events in 2025, including The Masters. He started off the year very strong. However, over the last four tournaments, he's had his struggles.
After winning The Masters, McIlroy missed the cut at the Zurich Classic, finished 7th at the Truist Champ, 47th at the PGA Championship, and missed the cut at the Canadian Open.
Meanwhile, it had already been reported that McIlroy had struggled at Oakmont during his practice rounds for the US Open. He used a 3-wood golf club and made a bogey on a par-3 hole. He also had a triple bogey on the second hole.

Rory McIlroy US Open Odds: Winner +1200
The US Open was held at Oakmont Country Club in 2016. McIlroy finished +8 and missed the cut that year. In that tournament, McIlroy earned a quadruple bogey and struggled with the fast greens and deep rough. Ultimately, he was derailed by his quadruple bogey. That ruined his score. But he's always mentally struggled at times.
His iron play hasn't been sharp, and he's currently experiencing some issues with his driver. In addition, McIlroy has explained that he's had a hard time finding motivation since winning The Masters.
That said, he's performed better at the US Open since 2019. He's finished in the top ten six consecutive times. But with the way he's performed recently, he's clearly not nearly as hungry as he was back then.
You won't find me betting on McIlroy at the US Open.
Rory McIlroy US Open Odds: Top 5 Finish +210
It's either boom or bust for McIlroy. He'll either finish in the top ten, or he'll be entirely away from the top of the leaderboard.
But right now, it just doesn't seem like McIlroy is locked in since The Masters win.
At Oakmont, you have to be completely locked in to contend. He's not. The practice round proved it when he triple-bogeyed the second hole when he thought he had three good shots.
Ultimately, I wouldn't bet on McIlroy at all this weekend. Of course, he's got the talent to be it all. He's Rory McIlroy. But the current McIlroy is not in form.
