Lottie Woad is the name to know in Wales this week, with the 21-year-old British golfer seeing herself at the top of the odds board from Royal Porthcawl. She only became a professional golfer a few weeks ago, and already won her first official tournament.

Lottie Woad has taken the golf world by storm. Just 21 years old, and she's already won her professional debut in the Scottish Open just last weekend. It wasn't her first official tournament though, as she's been scoring high finishes as an amateur throughout the year.
Woad was top three in the Amundi Evian Championship in early July, just missing the leader playoffs by a stroke. She turned professional just two days later, and proceeded to win the Scottish Open by three strokes, finishing at -21 under. Quite a way to announce her arrival.
But it's not just about her winning as an underdog like we saw with Chris Gotterup in the men's Scottish Open, but the respect that she's now getting from the sportsbooks. Taking over as the leader for a major after just becoming pro a few weeks ago? Almost unprecedented.
The young Englishwoman already saw success in the British Open a year ago, finishing in the top 10 with the amateur slot. Can she exceed those past results and notch a consecutive win in her second professional appearance? The oddsmakers seem to think so, giving her a generous price at +800 to lead the entire field.

Nelly Korda, brother of tennis star Sebastian, is another top star on the odds board here for Royal Porthcawl. She's currently ranked No. 1 in the world on points in the LPGA standings, but needs to get a fresh win under her belt to stay in the lead.
She joined the LPGA Tour in 2017, and has won 15 times since then. Her victories include two majors, the PGA Championship in 2021 and Chevron Championship in 2024, as well as an Olympic Gold Medal from Tokyo 2020.
Though she hasn't won a tournament yet in 2025, with the last win coming in November of 2024. Can she put the pressure on youngster Lottie Woad and win her third major?

Minjee Lee is currently ranked 5th in the world, and has 11 LPGA tour wins in her career. She's hot off a recent major victory in the KPMG PGA Championship last month, and would love to pick up another win here in Wales.
Lee has solid odds value back at +1800, likely inflated with the sudden rise of Lottie Woad. She's been a consistent competitor for over a decade, and knows how to win the majors with three total.
She's never won the British Open though, with third place as her best career finish back in 2020. She was also top 5 in the next two years, but shockingly missed the cut in 2024. Can she get back on track and channel her win from a few weeks ago? It could definitely be worth it to take a shot on the veteran at +1800 odds.
