The 2026 Tour Championship runs Thursday, August 27 through Sunday, August 30 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, with a $40 million purse and $10 million going to the winner. Scheffler finished the playoffs comfortably atop the FedExCup standings ahead of Matt Fitzpatrick and Wyndham Clark, while Cameron Young, Si Woo Kim, Chris Gotterup, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Åberg rounded out the top 10.
Those standings determined which 30 players reached East Lake, but they no longer provide an advantage once the tournament starts. The Starting Strokes format was eliminated before last year's event, meaning Scheffler begins at the same even-par score as the player who barely grabbed the 30th spot. Four rounds decide everything, making the Tour Championship a true 30-man sprint rather than a coronation for the season-long points leader.

Scheffler is back in the familiar position atop the odds board after another remarkably consistent season. The World No. 1 has 12 top-10 finishes in 18 PGA Tour starts, with all 12 actually coming inside the top five, and he has won twice. After opening the year with a victory at The American Express, Scheffler spent much of the season piling up close calls before finally getting his second trophy at the FedEx St. Jude Championship two weeks ago.
The question is whether he can recreate his 2024 East Lake victory after Tommy Fleetwood took the crown away last season. Scheffler finished T12 at the BMW Championship while battling hand, foot and mouth disease, which caused painful blisters on his hands and made gripping the club difficult early in the week. He has improved since then, and his recent results remain absurdly strong with a win, T12, second, T4 and second across his last five PGA Tour starts. At +350, the market still sees a sizable gap between Scheffler and everybody else.

McIlroy has five top-10 finishes this season and already owns one of the biggest victories available, successfully defending his Masters title in April. His summer became much more uneven, however, as a T7 at the Scottish Open was followed by a T40 at The Open and an ugly 66th-place finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The BMW Championship changed the conversation. McIlroy opened with a 64 and eventually finished third at 13-under, briefly catching Wyndham Clark during Sunday's final round before Clark pulled away again. McIlroy enters East Lake only 11th in the FedExCup standings, but that means nothing once play begins. The three-time FedExCup champion has repeatedly delivered at this course, and +950 gives him a much more attractive price than Scheffler after finally finding some late-season momentum.

Schauffele enters with seven top-10 finishes despite remaining winless in 2026. His season has been defined by consistently getting himself onto leaderboards without quite finishing the job, including a third at THE PLAYERS, T4 at the Valspar Championship and top-10 finishes at both the Masters and PGA Championship.
His form peaked again immediately before the playoffs. Schauffele finished second at the Rocket Classic and followed it with a T7 at the FedEx St. Jude, but he cooled considerably with a T26 at the BMW Championship. That leaves him 12th in the FedExCup standings heading to Atlanta. East Lake has historically been one of Schauffele's strongest courses, and the +1300 price is essentially betting that his ability to consistently contend finally turns into his first win of the season.

Burns has six top-10 finishes this season and has quietly produced some of the best big-event results of anyone in the field. He finished second at the U.S. Open, third at The Open Championship and T3 at the FedEx St. Jude, giving him three top-three finishes across major or playoff events since June.
The BMW Championship was a step backward as Burns finished T28, but one poor week does not erase how well he had been playing. He sits eighth in the FedExCup standings and ranks among the best putters on Tour, an obvious weapon if the East Lake greens become the separator this weekend. Burns has yet to win this season, but +1600 reflects how close he has repeatedly come against elite fields.

Few players improved their Tour Championship outlook more dramatically last week than Cantlay. He entered the BMW Championship sitting 43rd in the FedExCup standings and needing a huge result simply to qualify for East Lake, then delivered a runner-up finish to jump all the way to 19th.
That gave Cantlay his fifth top-10 of the season and easily his best finish of 2026. He had previously finished T8 at the Rocket Classic and T12 at the FedEx St. Jude, so the BMW result was not completely out of nowhere. The 2021 FedExCup champion suddenly arrives in Atlanta playing his best golf of the year, and the standings reset makes his late qualification irrelevant once Thursday begins. At +1700, he is one of the more dangerous players whose current odds look far better than his season-long ranking.

No player enters East Lake hotter than Clark. He has six top-10 finishes and three victories this season, winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson before capturing his second U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills and then adding the BMW Championship last weekend.
Clark's performance at Bellerive was especially impressive. He opened with consecutive 64s, carried a five-shot advantage into Sunday and responded after McIlroy erased that margin by making three consecutive birdies to pull away again. The victory pushed Clark all the way to No. 3 in the FedExCup standings and strengthened his case in the Player of the Year race. Getting +1800 on someone who has already won three times and enters immediately after beating this caliber of field is one of the more interesting numbers near the top of the board.

Åberg has not won this season, but eight top-10 finishes illustrate just how consistently he has remained around contention. His best stretch came during the spring with a T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T5 at THE PLAYERS, T5 at the Valero Texas Open, T4 at the RBC Heritage and T4 at the PGA Championship.
The summer became less consistent before Åberg started trending upward again at exactly the right time. He finished T9 at The Open and T7 at the FedEx St. Jude before placing T16 at the BMW Championship. Those results were enough to leave him 10th in the FedExCup standings entering East Lake. At +2000, Åberg offers significantly more upside than the favorites while bringing eight top-10s and three consecutive solid finishes into the finale.

Fleetwood returns to the site of the biggest PGA Tour moment of his career after winning the 2025 Tour Championship. He shot 18-under across four rounds at East Lake to beat Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay by three strokes, finally capturing his first PGA Tour victory and becoming the first champion under the new no-starting-strokes format.
The defending champion has eight top-10 finishes this season despite failing to add another win. Fleetwood finished T5 at the Truist Championship, T4 at the Memorial and then hit another strong stretch late in the summer with a T4 at The Open Championship and T7 at the FedEx St. Jude. His T47 at the BMW Championship was easily the weakest recent result, but it still left him ninth in the FedExCup standings.
