Can Tottenham Still Be Relegated After Blowing Late Lead on Monday Night?

Tottenham and West Ham are battling to avoid relegation, and with only two matches left, the race remains tight. Tottenham had a chance to blow it open, but ended with a late draw against Leeds United on Monday night. Peter Alexis updates the Premier League Relegation Odds as of Monday, May 11th.

Premier League Relegation Odds: Tottenham Gains Point, Still Above West Ham in Relegation Zone with Two Matches Left

The Premier League relegation race is down to West Ham and Tottenham, and the market now has West Ham as the clear favorite to go down at -400. Tottenham sit at +300 after moving to 38 points with a draw against Leeds, while West Ham remain on 36 points after Sunday’s crushing 1-0 loss to Arsenal.

The gap is only two points, but the last two days changed the shape of the race. West Ham had a stoppage-time equalizer against Arsenal ruled out after a lengthy VAR review, missing the chance to pull level with Tottenham. Then Spurs led Leeds deep into Monday’s match before conceding late and settling for one point, keeping the door open for West Ham but still leaving Tottenham in control of survival.

West Ham (-400) Check out the best odds with DraftKings Sportsbook

West Ham’s weekend was devastating because the performance was good enough to take something from Arsenal. Leandro Trossard scored in the 83rd minute to give the title-chasing Gunners a 1-0 win, but the relegation flashpoint came in stoppage time when Callum Wilson appeared to score a dramatic equalizer. VAR ultimately ruled the goal out for a foul on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, leaving West Ham furious and still stuck below the line. The club is expected to seek clarity from PGMOL and request the VAR audio after a decision that could prove decisive in the survival race.

The missed point is massive. Had Wilson’s goal stood, West Ham would have moved to 37 points and Tottenham’s late collapse against Leeds would have left the rivals separated by only one point. If Tottenham had lost instead of drawing, the table could have looked even more fragile. Instead, West Ham remain two points behind and now need a result from their final two matches while hoping Spurs fail to close the door.

The remaining schedule is difficult but not impossible. West Ham still have Newcastle away and Leeds at home, with the Leeds match likely carrying huge survival implications if the Hammers can stay alive until the final day. The Newcastle trip is the problem. West Ham need at least one win from the final two, and likely need help, which is why the -400 relegation price is so short. The math is still alive, but the margin for error is nearly gone.

Tottenham (+300) Check out the best odds with DraftKings Sportsbook

Tottenham remain in danger, but Monday’s draw with Leeds still gave them the most important thing they needed: separation. Spurs had a chance to move four points clear and nearly put West Ham in a desperate position, but blowing the lead late means they remain only two points above the drop. That is why the +300 price still carries tension. Tottenham are not safe, but they control the race in a way West Ham no longer do.

The frustration for Spurs is that they had the weekend set up to all but bury West Ham. Arsenal did them a favor on Sunday, and Leeds were already safe entering Monday’s match, but Tottenham could not finish the job. Roberto De Zerbi’s side has improved enough to move out of the relegation zone, yet the late concession keeps the pressure on a club that has spent too much of the season flirting with disaster. Earlier relegation-market movement had already reflected Spurs’ improvement after back-to-back wins, but the Leeds draw stopped short of ending the conversation.

Tottenham’s final matches are Chelsea away and Everton at home. That is a tense closing stretch, especially with a London derby next and a final-day fixture that could still matter. One win should be enough. Even one more draw may be enough if West Ham fail to beat Newcastle. But if Spurs lose at Chelsea and West Ham find a result, the final weekend could become a straight survival sweat.
