Puerto Rico Open Betting & Odds: Scott Brown The Most Wagered By Bettors

The Puerto Rico Open is as wide open as any PGA Tour event, in large part due to reigning champion Viktor Hovland not playing the event. Oddsmakers don’t give a single golfer better than +1800 odds. As a result, bettors are turning towards a familiar face.

2013 Puerto Rico open winner Scott Brown is the current bettors’ favorite with 12.25% of all bets the past seven days. Oddsmakers are much less optimistic, as they give Brown +5000 odds.

The love for Brown is both confusing and understandable. On the one hand, Brown hasn’t won a PGA Tour event since 2013. In fact, his 2013 Puerto Rico Open win was the only win on the PGA Tour in his entire career. On the other hand, Brown set the course record when he won the tournament in 2013, Chesson Hadley broke that record by one stroke in 2014.

In such a wide-open field it’s logical for bettors to turn towards someone who has won the event before. Not to mention, Brown’s long odds make him an intriguing play.

Among the other bettor favorites are Branden Grace with 7.33%, Michael Kim with 5.13%, and Anirban Lahiri with 4.19%.
