Games to Watch This Weekend: The Best Games Across Every Sport to Watch This Weekend

What games should you be watching this weekend? It's a tough question to answer. With so many different sports in the middle of their seasons right now, there are important games just about everywhere you look.

In the NBA and NHL, the season is just getting started but there are already teams pulling away. In the NFL, we're already more than halfway through the regular season and teams are vying for playoff positioning every single week. Then we have college football, where it seems like 20 different teams have a chance to make the 12-team College Football Playoff.

So, if all of that overwhelms you and you don't know which games you should watch, or you just want a breakdown of everything you have to look forward to this weekend in sports, you've come to the right place.

Top Games to Watch This Weekend - November 16-17

NFL Top Games

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens

  • Date: Sunday, November 17
  • Time: 1:00 pm ET
  • Spread: Ravens -3 (-108)
  • Why You Need to Watch: This one is pretty simple. It's a matchup atop the AFC North between two teams that absolutely hate one another. In recent years, the Steelers haven't kept up their side of the bargain in this rivalry but at 7-2 they lead the division with Russell Wilson under center. Meanwhile, the MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson has his 7-3 Ravens playing lights out. The AFC is stacked this season and this is a matchup between two division rivals that both have a Super Bowl trip in mind.

Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears

  • Date: Sunday, November 17
  • Time: 1:00 pm ET
  • Spread: Packers -5.5 (-105)
  • Why You Need to Watch: Do the Bears suck? Probably. However, thanks to a hot start to the season they are very much still alive in the NFC playoff picture. At 4-5 coming into this one, a loss likely pushes them out of the playoff picture (where they belong). Still, a win against the Packers at home isn't out of the question. As for the Packers, if they have any hope of keeping up with the 8-1 Lions, they'll need to improve to 7-3 this week against Chicago. The 5.5-point spread could mean we're in for a blowout.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills

  • Date: Sunday, November 17
  • Time: 4:25 pm ET
  • Spread: Bills -2 (-110)
  • Why You Need to Watch: The three best teams in the NFL to this point in the season have been the Chiefs, the Lions and the Bills. On Sunday, we get spoiled with a likely early preview of the AFC title game as the unbeaten Chiefs travel to Buffalo. These two teams are extremely familiar with one another as it seems they meet in the postseason every year. You can't ever pass up a Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes showdown, especially when both teams are playing as well as they have been.

NBA Top Games

Denver Nuggets vs. Memphis Grizzlies

  • Date: Sunday, November 17
  • Time: 6:00 pm ET
  • Spread: TBD
  • Why You Need to Watch: The Memphis Grizzlies will host the Denver Nuggets on Sunday evening for a Western Conference showdown, and they are working to get their stars back from injury. Marcus Smart just came back after missing time, and Desmond Bane is expected back by Sunday night at the latest after getting listed as questionable on Friday night. However, Ja Morant is still going to miss this matchup with an oblique injury, and may be out for a few more weeks after getting injured against the Lakers last week. Regardless, this will be a hard-fought game as the Grizzlies try to pull it out at home against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

  • Date: Sunday, November 17
  • Time: 7:00 pm ET
  • Spread: TBD
  • Why You Need to Watch: The Dallas Mavericks will meet the Oklahoma City Thunder in one of the biggest games of the early NBA season. These two are expected to be candidates for the top Western Conference team throughout the year, and are loaded with stars. Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic lead the Mavs, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been nearly unstoppable with the Thunder. They should be slight home favorites in this one, even after losing Chet Holmgren for several months due to a hip fracture. Once the Thunder get Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein back later in the season, they will be a force to reckon with. Until then, they seem to be doing just fine, and will be heavily tested against the reigning Western Conference champs on Sunday night.

College Football Top Games

No. 17 Clemson Tigers vs. Pitt Panthers

  • Date: Saturday, November 16
  • Time: Noon ET
  • Spread: Clemson -13.5 (-110)
  • Why You Need to Watch: Normally, ACC football wouldn't make the list of must-watch games for this weekend. However, with Miami's loss this past weekend the Clemson Tigers have moved up to second in the ACC and now have an outside chance at making the CFP. One of the teams in their way is the 7-2 Pitt Panthers. Can Dabo Swinney really take this Clemson side to the playoffs? It's not likely, but the opportunity to get SMU in the conference title game is still on the line this weekend.

No. 24 Missouri Tigers vs. No. 23 South Carolina Gamecocks

  • Date: Saturday, November 16
  • Time: 4:15 pm ET
  • Spread: South Carolina -14 (-115)
  • Why You Need to Watch: The Missouri Tigers picked up a huge win at home against the Oklahoma Sooners last weekend, coming away with a last second fumble-return touchdown to escape. They are still a ranked team, but these two squads are moving in opposite directions. The Tigers are without star QB Brady Cook due to an ankle injury, and South Carolina is arguably the hottest team in the nation. They are catching a two-touchdown spread here due to Mizzou injuries and a revamped defense for the Gamecocks that wreaked havoc on No. 11 Texas A&M a few weeks ago. Just because both sides are ranked does not mean you should expect an even battle here, and the Gamecocks should run away with this one at home.

No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers vs. No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs

  • Date: Saturday, November 16
  • Time: 7:30 pm ET
  • Spread: Georgia -9.5 (-110)
  • Why You Need to Watch: This matchup between Georgia and Tennessee is essentially a College Football Playoff elimination game. Georgia already has two losses on their schedule and a second loss for Tennessee, without the caliber of opponents the Dawgs have head, is a death sentence. The SEC has essentially eaten itself alive this season, leaving plenty of room for Big-12 teams and ACC teams to sneak into the new 12-team format. Carson Beck and the Georgia defense need a win against Nico Iamaleava at home.

College Basketball Top Games

Notre Dame vs. Georgetown

  • Date: Saturday, November 16
  • Time: 1:00 pm ET
  • Spread: Georgetown +2.5 (-110)
  • Why You Need to Watch: This is the first men's college basketball game on the main NBC network since 1998, usually dominated by Notre Dame football. The basketball team hasn't played on it since taking on Providence of February '98, so this is a landmark return for the broadcast channel. They are hoping to get a good game on air, as the Irish and Hoyas come in undefeated. The Hoyas are looking to turn it around after a miserable first year for Ed Cooley, and they are led by Thomas Sorber and Jayden Epps. Meanwhile, the Irish are looking to find their stride under their second year head coach as well. The winner of this one will get a huge momentum boost for the rest of non-conference play.

South Carolina vs. No. 16 Indiana

  • Date: Saturday, November 16
  • Time: 3:00 pm ET
  • Spread: Indiana -7.5 (-110)
  • Why You Need to Watch: The Indiana Hoosiers are looking to establish themselves as one of the top teams in college basketball, and Saturday will be a good chance to continue building their resume. They will take on the top-50 South Carolina Gamecocks on Peacock, and they can add a big home win as they head into Feast Week. Favored solidly at -7.5 points, they will be testing the chemistry acquired in the transfer portal with stars like Oumar Ballo from Arizona against a power conference opponent at Assembly Hall.

New Mexico vs. No. 22 St. John's

  • Date: Sunday, November 17
  • Time: 12:00 pm ET
  • Spread: TBD
  • Why You Need to Watch: You might be wondering why New Mexico is rounding out the list of top games on a mediocre CBB slate this weekend, and that's because this is the battle of the Pitino's. St. John's head coach Rick Pitino will be taking on his son, Richard, in this cross-country matchup. The Johnnies may be the ranked home favorite, but the Lobos are no slouch. The younger Pitino's squad made it to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 11 seed last year, while his father was snubbed. They will now fight it out on the court to see who built a better program in the offseason.

NHL Top Games

Edmonton Oilers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

  • Date: Saturday, November 16
  • Time: 7:00 pm ET
  • Spread: Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+170)
  • Why You Need to Watch: This will be a true Canadian showdown, with the Oilers and Leafs squaring off as the two best teams up north. The Leafs have won four of their last five games, but will be a home underdog at +115 against Connor McDavid and the Oilers. Edmonton has won three in a row, including an OT win over the Predators on Thursday night, and will now head across Canada to meet one of their biggest rivals. The stars will be out on the ice, except for Auston Matthews, who's been out for the Leafs, and clearly impacting the line in this one.

Winnipeg Jets vs. Florida Panthers

  • Date: Saturday, November 16
  • Time: 7:00 pm ET
  • Spread: Florida Panthers -1.5 (+150)
  • Why You Need to Watch: Fort Lauderdale, FL will be the site of arguably the biggest weekend matchup, with the first-place Jets heading south for a date with the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Both teams are dominating in their division, and the Panthers are a -150 favorite thanks in part to the home ice advantage. Matthew Tkachuk and co. have just lost two in a row to the Devils, and will be looking for a big bounce back at home against the red-hot Jets. Winnipeg were winners of seven games in a row before their streak was finally snapped by the Lightning on Thursday night to start off their road trip.

Washington Capitals vs. Vegas Golden Knights

  • Date: Sunday, November 17
  • Time: 8:00 pm ET
  • Spread: TBD
  • Why You Need to Watch: The loaded NHL weekend slate will come to an end on Sunday evening when the Capitals head out west to face off with the Golden Knights in Vegas. The Capitals have been alternating wins and losses over the last few weeks, and will try not to fall apart on their West Coast road trip after a solid 10-4 start. They'll first battle the Avs on Friday night in Colorado, and follow that up with this Vegas matchup and a trip to Utah. The line isn't out yet for this one, but we can anticipate the first-place Golden Knights arriving as a pretty strong favorite, closer to -175 at home.
