Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Betting Odds: Can Anyone Stop Joey Chestnut in his Return to Coney Island?

Joey Chestnut is back! The world is ready to be entertained by the greatest competitive eater to ever live on July 4th, as he makes his triumphant return to Coney Island for the 2025 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Chestnut sat out last year due to a contract dispute, and instead clobbered the same amount of hot dogs as the real contest winner in just half the time in his personal contest. The sportsbooks know how powerful Chestnut is, listing him as a -1800 favorite for today's contest, a 94.7% chance of winning.

Can anyone stop the GOAT eater? Patrick Bertoletti won last year in his absence, but is given just a 9.1% chance of topping Chestnut at +1000 odds. No other competitor is remotely close after that.

There are also other ways to bet on the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, such as total hot dogs consumed at over/under 71.5, as well as the winner without Chestnut market, where Bertoletti is a slight favorite. You can even bet on the alternate total of over 65, 70, or 75 at Kalshi.

Joey Chestnut -1800

It would almost take a miracle at this rate for Joey Chestnut not to win the annual hot dog contest. The only reason he didn't win last year is because he wasn't even there. He had a sponsorship issue with his partner vs. major league eating, and ultimately sat out the contest.

Instead, he held his own, putting down 57 dogs in just FIVE minutes. The usual length is 10 minutes, and in his absence, Patrick Bertoletti won with 58 in double the time. It just goes to show how dominant Chestnut is in this space.

Patrick Bertoletti +1000

As mentioned, Bertoletti took home his first title in 2024 after avoiding the GOAT, eating 58 dogs last year. The 40-year-old will try and repeat, but has just a 9% chance of topping Chestnut at Coney Island.

Up until that point last year, Chestnut had won every time since 2007 except once, continuing to demonstrate his dominance. Can Bertoletti put up a fight? He'll have to add at least 10 on his total from last year to even have a fighting chance against Chestnut, but probably even more.

It's important to note there is a separate market for hot dog winner without Joey Chestnut, and that one puts Bertoletti as a -160 favorite. He's followed by Geoffrey Esper at +400 and James Webb at +450.
