Australian Open Danielle Collins vs Ashleigh Barty Preview

For the first time in Danielle Collins' career, she is in the final for a Grand Slam. She's the 30th ranked women's tennis player in the world, and an upset performance in this matchup would surely help her rank climb. Collins features an extremely powerful serve, has strong volleying skills, and her double-handed backhand is stronger than most players. She has just a 22 percent chance of winning this matchup but she will need to put all of those skills on display in this one to come away with the win.

As for Ashleigh Barty, she holds an impressive 298-102 record in singles play and she's the number one ranked player in the world. She won Wimbledon in 2021 and the French Open in 2019. She's still looking that elusive Australian Open win in her home country. What sets Barty apart is her powerful forehand shot that creates sharp angles on cross-court shots. She's 17-8 all-time in the Australian Open and after a Quarterfinals exit in 2021 and 2019 and a semi-final exit in 2020, she has a chance to finish the job in 2022.

She's heavily favored but can Danielle Collins hold her off? We'll find out early Saturday morning.
