I don’t typically like backing pitchers in their first start back from injury, but Clayton Kershaw isn’t your average pitcher. Not only is he a lock to be in the Hall of Fame, but before his injury he was in the midst of one of his best career seasons. Tonight, he’ll face the lowly Rockies in his first outing since he threw six scoreless innings against them on June 27th.

Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction
Not only are the Rockies nearly 25 games under .500, some of their best players are out for the remainder of the season due to injury. This Rockies lineup is a shell of itself compared to their opening-day lineup. The majority of the remaining roster has either rarely faced Kershaw, or they’ve struggled mightily against him. Either way, the advantage goes to Kershaw in this matchup.
The Dodgers are playing some of their best baseball of the season right now. Currently on a four-game win streak, Los Angeles is coming off an electric late victory against the Diamondbacks. Tonight they’ll face one of the worst road teams in baseball, the Colorado Rockies. They’ve lost 39 of their 59 road games, and it won’t get any easier against one of the best pitchers and teams in baseball.
Ty Blach has been stretched out recently, pitching 9.2 innings in his last two outings. The Rockies bullpen is putrid, and they’ll look to utilize the struggling Blach for as long as they can. He was just roughed up by the Cardinals on the road last week, giving up eight hits and allowing four runs. If the Cardinals are capable of that, imagine what the Dodgers are going to do to him tonight.
This is the best stretch of baseball we’ve seen the Dodgers play all year. They aren’t slowing down anytime soon, as they’ve finally started to establish some consistency in their lineup. Veterans at the bottom of the order like Jason Heyward and David Peralta have finally started to produce for this already-potent lineup.
The Dodgers might win this game by ten runs. You don’t often see a runline at 2.5, but when you do, it’s typically for good reason. Kershaw and the Dodgers are (-400) on the moneyline tonight; it’s not a question of if the Dodgers are going to win, it’s by how many runs.
Bet the Dodgers to win this game by at least three runs. Kershaw will once again dominate against the Rockies at home, and the Dodgers' offense continues to heat up. This isn’t the type of game where you get cute and try to bet the underdog at (+300); don’t be surprised if Kershaw pitches a shutout in his return.
