Well, today is an absolutely electric one, to say the least. It is MLB Opening Day, and every single team in the league is playing. On top of that, there is a loaded ten-game NHL slate with a lot of potential. I have been glued to my laptop today and spent most of the morning handicapping MLB, we dominated last season, and I plan on doing the same this year.
I already posted a lot of free MLB plays, so I am not going to go crazy with hockey tonight, but I will take this opportunity to run a little cross-sport parlay between two of my favorite spots on the evening board. Usually, I would not mix totals with money lines when doing cross-sport parlays, but my favorite NHL total tonight is juicy already so I will run this for the value.
Opening Day Cross-Sport Parlay
Leg One: MLB Padres ML
The San Diego Padres have one of the best lineups in the league this season, and with Blake Snell on the mound at home for opening day this evening, I find it very hard to believe Colorado takes this one. Snell is coming off of another phenomenal season and should be able to keep a relatively unimpressive Rockies lineup quiet; outside that top four, maybe five hitters, no one scares me. Rockies ace German Marquez is solid, and I do not expect him to roll over. This Padres lineup is absolutely lethal, and I see them causing issues tonight. Even if it is a slugfest, they have the bats to do it.
Leg Two: NHL Florida/Montreal o6.5
My favorite total tonight comes in the Florida Panthers road contest with the Montreal Canadiens, and I will keep my write-up simple because it does not need to be complex. The last five straight meetings between these two squads have gone over at an average of 10.8 GPG. That's right, almost eleven goals per game. Florida has a potent offense and is one of the best over teams in the league this season, including eight of their last ten on the road. Montreal is a top-five home-over team in the league, and with Samuel Montembault in net, who averages a 6.52 GAA against Florida this season, this track race should start early and keep going that way all game.
