5 minMiami Marlins vs. New York Mets Prediction: Can Jesus Luzardo Get Miami Its First Win of the Season?
The New York Mets and the Miami Marlins will duel things out from the sunshine State for an NL East affair on Friday night. Let's get into my prediction, pick, and odds for this MLB game.
Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets Prediction
Game one of this series did not disappoint, as it was a hard-fought win for the Mets. New York jumped out to a 3-0 lead early, but the fish would respond with three of their own in the sixth inning. New York would answer right back in the top of the seventh on a two-run RBI double by Brandon Nimmo.
On paper, you could sit down and make a legitimate argument that the Mets have the best roster in baseball. They signed reigning Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander in the off-season, pairing him with future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer at the top of their rotation. They also represent one of the best-hitting lineups in baseball, with names like Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Brandon Nimmo.
New York did take in some tough news yesterday before the game when they learned that Verlander would start the season on the IL. They are hopeful that this will not be a long-term injury as they already lost closer Edwin Diaz for the year due to injury.
Miami, meanwhile, is a team that has no pressure on them entering the year. This is a pretty average roster, and they are slated to be a pretty average team. The Marlins did make some solid moves in the off-season, adding batting champion Luis Arraez and former Phillie Jean Segura to the lineup.
Young star Jazz Chisholm Jr. is also expected to take a leap this year and show off his skill set. The Marlins will send southpaw Jesus Luzardo to the rubber tonight. Luzardo is coming off a solid season with an era of 3.32 and striking out one hundred twenty batters in one hundred innings of work.

I am going to back the dog and take the Marlins on the first five-money line today. I think that Luzardo will be able to limit this Mets offense, and on the flip side, I have not been impressed with Drew Peterson. Miami is a lineup that I expect to hit lefties better than right-handers this season, and they should have a lot of favorable matchups tonight. This is a Marlins line all the way in my eyes, and I will trust the home team to bounce back today and get their first win of the new season.
