Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction: Can Cristian Javier and the Astros Avoid the Sweep?

The Detroit Tigers and the Houston Astros will duel things out from Space City on Wednesday afternoon as the teams close out a three-game series. Detroit will be going for the sweep this afternoon. Yes, you read that sentence correctly. The Tigers will attempt to sweep the Astros in Houston today.

Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction

The Astros come into this season off a world championship, and we have seen a slight World Series hangover so far. Despite the early struggles, this remains the best roster in the MLB, and you know when the time comes that this team will figure things out.

One thing that is important to note is that they are expected to be without all-star second baseman Jose Altuve for the first two months of the season as he recovers from an injury he sustained in the World Baseball Classic.

Detroit, meanwhile, comes into this season slated to be one of the worst teams in baseball. It has been a tough couple of years for the Tigers, but they are hopeful that some of these young players will pan out. One of those young guys that the Tigers feel good about is outfielder Riley Greene who was productive when called up last season and is hitting over .300 to start this year. The pitching matchup for today will be Eduardo Rodriguez versus Cristian Javier.

I will be sipping on some juice and taking Houston -1 (-176). Yes, this is the juiciest play of our season so far, but I find value in this due to the fact that I think this line should be -250+.

I would be shocked if the Detroit Tigers go into Houston against their ace today and sweep them. Secondly, this Astros lineup rakes when they face Rodriguez. Jeremy Pena hits .600 against him, Alex Bregman hits .300, and Yordan Alvarez hits .400. On the flip side, Javier has very good numbers against this Tigers lineup. I believe that will continue in this afternoon’s game. Let’s cash this in!
