Colorado Rockies vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction: Can Miles Mikolas Get Some Offensive Help?

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Colorado Rockies will clash from the mike high on Tuesday night for what should be a fun matchup. The Rockies won game one of the series last night behind a strong offensive performance.

Colorado Rockies vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

The Rockies enter this season not seen as a playoff team, but this is still a solid team. St. Louis, meanwhile, entered the season as the favorite to win in the NL Central. Things have not gone their way this season so far, as they enter this game in last place in the Central. The good thing for the Cardinals is that we are only ten games into the season, and they have 152 games left to fix this.

On paper, you could make the argument that the Cardinals have a top-three offensive lineup in baseball, headlined by Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado. Goldschmidt won the National League MVP award a season ago, and Arenado was right on his heels. The issue for the Cardinals early in the season has been their starting pitching.

Tonight they hand the ball to former all-star Miles Mikolas, who will attempt to turn in a strong outing which is no easy task at Coors Field. Mikolas has struggled at Coors in his career, including his most recent start in the mile high. Mikolas gave up fourteen hits and ten earned runs last year on August 9th against the Rockies. Opposing Mikolas will be Southpaw Kyle Freeland, who has been lights out to start the season. Freeland has not allowed a run in 12.2 innings this year.

I am going to take the Cardinals on the -1 line tonight. I just showed you all how bad Mikolas has been at Coors, and he enters this game with a 9.64 era on the year, yet we see the Cardinals as a heavy favorite here. I expect some regression for Kyle Feelwand tonight.

No team hit left-handed pitching better than the Cardinals a season ago, and at Coors tonight; I expect this offense to break out and put up runs. Let’s stay hot on the diamond tonight!
