The Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres will duel things out from Petco Park on Thursday night for a National League affair. Let's get into my prediction, MLB pick, and odds for this late-night game.
San Diego Padres vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
The Brewers come into this game representing the best record in the NL Central at 8-4. Milwaukee entered the year seen as a playoff team despite having the second-best odds in their own division.
This is a Brewers team that is heavily dependent on their starting pitching, which, when healthy, is one of the best rotations in baseball, headlined by Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff just hit the DL, however, which will shake up this starting rotation. Milwaukee still has not announced a starting pitcher for tonight’s game.
The Padres, meanwhile, have high expectations entering the year. On paper, you could make a legitimate argument that this is the best roster in baseball. San Diego added all-star shortstop Xander Bogaerts in the off-season, pairing him with three stars in Juan Soto, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr.
San Diego also has one of the best rotations in the national league when they are fully healthy. The Padres enter this game following a 5-2 loss to the New York Mets yesterday. San Diego will send Nick Martinez to the mound to try and limit this Brewers lineup.
I am going to take the favorite tonight and put my money on the Padres. I like San Diego to bounce back tonight after a tough series against the Mets. I am a big fan of Nick Martinez, and I expect him to go out tonight and shut down this Brewers lineup.
Milwaukee is due for some regression, especially from an offensive standpoint. I think that this is an offense that has performed much better than they really are early in the year. I question if they can keep pace with the Padres bats tonight. Let’s stay hot and cash in!
