New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction: Can the Yankees' Bats Come Alive Against Griffin Canning?
Shohei Ohtani launched a two-run homer in the first inning of yesterday’s series opener, and the Los Angeles Angels never looked back as they won 5-2. Can the New York Yankees bats come alive against Griffin Canning? Let's break it down.

The Yankees have been fairly inconsistent most of the season to this point, and while they do have a winning record, they have not performed to the level that most people thought they would. A lot of this has been due to inconsistent hitting and pitching from their back-end starters. Clarke Schmidt struggled yesterday as he gave up a home run to Ohtani in the first inning and just did not have his sharpest stuff on the day.

New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction
Tonight the Yankees are starting young right-hander Johnny Brito, who had one of the worst starts of any pitcher in the entire league his last time out against the twins. Brito nearly gave up ten runs in the first inning of that game in what was a clear blowout from the top of the first and on.
Brito looked fairly sharp in his first two starts, but the negative regression bug hit him hard in his start against the twins I do think this is a good spot for him to bounce back at home against an Angels lineup that is also inconsistent in their own right.
If you look up and down the Angels lineup, you will see a lot of big names that have gotten paid millions of dollars to bolster the incredible duo of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Guys like Anthony Rendon, Hunter Renfroe, and Brandon Drury have been brought in, but other than the MVP duo of Trout and Ohtani, the Angels lineup has been very hit or miss.
Brito should be able to bounce back at home tonight, and I think the Yankees bats will come alive against Griffin Canning, who is not a big-time strikeout pitcher. Canning is actually considered more of a fly ball pitcher, as he has had more fly balls than ground balls in every start since 2020.
In a park-like Yankee Stadium with short porches to right and left field, being a fly ball pitcher is not a good thing to be. With that being said, I am rolling with Yankees F5 ML at -112 for 1U as my most confident MLB Play of the Day.
