Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction: Can Drew Smyly, Cubs Get Hot Early?

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs will duel things out from the Windy City on Friday afternoon. Now as gamblers, this is the game of the day. Because the result of this game sets the tone for the day, and it sets the tone for our w entire betting weekend. Whenever the Cubs play at home on Friday, we owe it to them to bet on the game.

Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction

Chicago has gotten off to a solid start this season, sporting a record of 11-7 on the young season. Entering the year, there were a lot of question marks around this team. The Cubs have moved on from some star players over the last few seasons, and they are in a bit of a rebuilding phase.

This off-season, the Cubs made a couple of interesting moves when they landed World Series champion shortstop Dansy Swanson and another former World Series champion Cody Bellinger. Bellinger, who finished second in MVP voting just a few seasons ago, has looked like his old self since putting on a Cubs uniform.

The lefty slugger is hitting .290 with four home runs in thirteen runs batted in. Fellow outfielder Ian Happ has gotten off to a strong start this season as well, hitting .304 and earning himself a long-term extension with the team.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, have gotten off to a bit of a sluggish start for their standards. Los Angeles has been one of the best teams in baseball over the last decade, and they feel as if they have a championship-level roster yet again this year.

The Dodgers are 10-10 at the moment, and they would love nothing more than to get over the .500 mark with a road win today. Los Angeles will send Julio Urias to the mound, who is coming off the best year of his career. Opposing Urias will be fellow Southpaw Drew Smyly.

I am going to put my money on the home team today and trust that they can cover the first five spread. Urias is the better arm here, but I love the way that the Cubs have been swinging the bats this year, and I feel as if they can make some noise against him today.

On the flip side, Smyly is a guy that I feel is better than his numbers indicate on the young season. The Dodgers have been inconsistent from an offensive standpoint early this season, and the value here is too good to pass up on the Cubs; let’s stay red hot and cash in!
