It’s been a profitable start to the 2023 MLB betting season. It is very important to pick your spots when betting on baseball. I’ve talked to many professional sports bettors, and they’ve all told me the same thing: don’t send more than two or three baseball bets daily. If you try to bet every game on the board, the juice will catch up to you, and you will be down money at the end of the season.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction
Another important aspect of betting on baseball involves taking ballpark factors into consideration. Baseball is the only major team sport where the dimensions of the field are different at every ballpark. Some of these parks have shorter fences than others or maybe have wider gaps in the outfield with deeper fences.
One of the most common misconceptions when looking at ballpark factors is that parks with shorter fences produce more runs. Yes, Fenway Park is a hitter-friendly park, but besides that, the parks that allow the most runs are typically ones with deeper fences and bigger outfield gaps.
Chase Field in Arizona is a huge ballpark, but the typical sports bettor wouldn't assume that it’s a top-ten ballpark for runs produced. Although there aren’t many home runs at Chase Field, the gaps are enormous and produce increased XBHs. Both the Royals and Diamondbacks are bottom-seven in baseball for home runs in 2023.
They don’t live and die by the long ball. These teams are filled with speedsters who rely on extra-base hits to produce runs. In a ballpark with huge gaps that ranks third in doubles and tenth in triples this year, both offenses should thrive tonight. Guys like Bobby Witt, MJ Melendez, and Matt Duffy should thrive at Chase Field.
The Diamondbacks thrive off doubles and triples. Arizona leads all of baseball in doubles, with 52 on the year. Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll, and Josh Rojas are making a living off of their speed. Facing a struggling Brady Singer tonight, the Dbacks must be chomping at the bit to get this game started. Ryne Nelson is a highly coveted prospect on the bump for Arizona, but he has yet to live up to the hype. Facing a young core who utilizes the gaps, expect Kansas City to put up some runs against the young right-hander.
Last night, sharps got burned on the over in Arizona. When the public hops off, jump back in and take the over with the total on the rise. After the total opened at nine, we’re seeing some o/u10 totals floating around. Back the over and fade these struggling young pitchers in a massive ballpark where both offensives should take advantage of the gaps.
