The Phillies are coming off a series win in the rematch of the 2022 World Series in Houston, and the Dodgers just swept the Cardinals. Who has the edge in the first game of what should be an incredible series?

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction
I give the edge to Tony Gonsolin and the Dodgers, who are starting to return some key players to their lineup. When this team is fully healthy, they have the best roster in baseball. Some of the lineups they’ve been putting out look more like a lineup the Nationals submit than the formidable Dodgers. As they get healthier each day, this team continues to heat up. Averaging nearly five runs per game in their last ten and Tony Gonsolin back on the mound for only the second time this season, the Dodgers are a great look tonight against the Phillies.
In Gonsolin’s first start last week, he threw 65 pitches in three scoreless innings. Was this Gonsolin’s most impressive start? Definitely not, as he struggled with his command significantly. Making his second start of 2023 tonight, expect Gonsolin to look more like the 16-1 ace with a 2.14 ERA from 2022 that he was against a Philly lineup that is still Bryce Harper. Harper isn’t returning until tomorrow at the earliest, and this Philadelphia lineup has missed him greatly. Philly ranks 15th in MLB in runs so far this season: they need their slugger back.
Taijuan Walker has been less than impressive in his first season with the Phillies, sporting a 4.97 ERA in five starts. Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez are hitting above .500 with four RBIs in 22 at-bats against the veteran right-hander. Mookie has been heating up, with a hit in each game of the previous series sweep against the Cardinals. This Dodgers lineup will feast against a struggling Walker who recently gave up five runs in four innings against the Mariners.
With the Dodgers playing their best baseball of the season, and the odds on their moneyline shifting 15 cents in their direction, back Los Angeles to stay hot and win their fourth game in a row. There won’t be many opportunities left in 2023 to back Tony Gonsolin and the Dodgers at a shorter price than (-170) on the moneyline. Buy low on Gonsolin as he returns from injury; his leash should be much longer tonight after throwing only 65 pitches in his first start last week.
