I can’t stress enough that this is for game 2! Max Scherzer and Michael Lorenzen are the two pitchers, NOT Joey Wentz and Joey Lucchesi. Make sure you’re playing this bet on this game, as I much prefer this game to the other.

Max Scherzer returns from suspension but also returns to Detroit here. Mad Max is a fantastic pitcher who threw eight scoreless before his suspension. He’s due some positive regression as he’s had a tough start this year against the Milwaukee Brewers that tanked his ERA, and he should improve on it today against Detroit. The Tigers hit a putrid .215 against right-handed pitching. Scherzer will come back motivated and should make quick work of these brutal bats.

Michael Lorenzen is on the mound for Detroit. This is his fourth start of the season, and he’s had a wonky year. In two starts, he has allowed five and six earned runs getting absolutely lit up. In the other start, he threw five scoreless against the Baltimore Orioles. I expect today to lie somewhere in the middle, maybe allowing three runs. If that’s the case, I like Scherzer to allow two or fewer and us to lead after five innings.

Lorenzen has a 7.07 ERA and faces a New York Mets team who went into this year expecting 100 wins. The Mets will get hot soon, and this feels like the right time as they get the healthiest they’ve gotten all year. Detroit has played spoiler for a few teams but still has a 10-17 record for a reason, and they’re just not very good. Not going to overthink this one. Let's go, Mets!
