For anyone possibly confused, our juice reducer is for Tampa Bay not to score seven or less by themselves; it is not the game under. We are just using that to bring down the juice of our beloved NRSI. Tampa shouldn’t score 8+ runs in a game with a total of 7.5 and with Gerrit Cole on the mound.
Gerrit Cole is the man we are trusting most here. He is the leader of the Cy Young race and has dominated Tampa Bay in the past. He pitched 25.1 innings against Tampa last year over four starts and only allowed three total runs. He allowed one run three times and also had a shutout. In total, these Rays bats hit 35-150 against him which is just .233.
On the other side, it is a bullpen day for Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay has the best bullpen in the MLB in terms of ERA. We avoid Aaron Judge to injury and shouldn’t have to face Anthony Rizzo or Gleyber Torres. Although Harrison Bader has been solid, I like our odds against guys like Isaiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswaldo Cabrera not to hurt us. We just need one clean inning here.
When Cole starts, the other team has scored seven or fewer runs in 42 out of 43 games dating back to the beginning of last season. Taking an NRSI in a game with a 7.5 total is always worth the risk if the numbers line up with who’s batting in the middle of the order.
