We haven’t bet on this market yet. This feels like as good of a time as ever too. This is a bounce-back spot for a pitcher I really believe in against one of the worst teams ever assembled. The Athletics are 10-38 and have a -168 run differential which is by far the worst in the league.
Seattle enters this game as -335 favorites. That is absolutely bonkers, and there is juice on them even at -1.5. Luis Castillo has gone 5+ innings in all nine games this season and should hopefully exit the game today with a lead.
An angle I like with this bet is Castillo getting run support. For the Athletics today, they are throwing Kyle Muller. He has allowed 4+ runs in six of his last seven starts. The guy is batting practice for most teams that play him. Seattle isn’t particularly good at hitting lefties, but this is a below-average pitcher.
Seattle is 22-24 with expectations to make the postseason; for games like this, they need to win. The double result was juiced much higher, so I see more value here. Castillo could throw six innings and hopefully get some run support, which could be stress-free. Let's roll before this line catches up with the rest!
