Keeping this one nice and simple. I just prefer the Miami Marlins in this matchup. It’s not often I trust a rookie pitcher making his third-ever start, but I like his stuff and think the offense should help him out today.
On the mound for the Colorado Rockies is Austin Gomber. This man has a brutal 6.70 ERA and has shown no signs of improving anytime soon. Today should be no better, as he faces a Miami team that loves facing lefties. The Marlins bat an incredible .290 against left-handed pitchers this season in 321 at-bats. Gomber is one of the weaker ones they’ll face, and he should get slapped around.
Rookie Eury Perez has allowed just three runs over his first two starts. His stuff looks great, and he should hopefully keep the Rockies guessing regardless of the game being played in Coors. I kind of like that Colorado won the first game of this series because I think Miami is the better team and shouldn’t drop two in a row against them.
So we went with a full game and nothing with the first five innings. This is because I feel like we have a small bullpen advantage as well. Despite being neck and neck in ERA, Colorado’s bullpen has allowed the second most hits of all MLB teams. I like Marlins today and that this is very minimal juice. Also, betting on ML should hopefully keep the line movement to an absolute minimum so everyone can tail. Let's roll!
