Minnesota Twins vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction: Do Sonny Gray, Twins Have an Edge Over Giants?

The San Francisco Giants and the Minnesota Twins will meet up from Target Field on Tuesday night for an inter-league affair. The Giants jumped out to a 4-0 lead last night after a three-run home run from Michael Conforto.

Minnesota Twins vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction

San Francisco went with a bullpen game last night, and their bullpen was outstanding, going nine innings and allowing just one run. That win pushed the Giant's record to 23-24 as they sit six games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the NL West. This Giants team will likely not compete for the division, but they feel they can make some noise and be a wildcard team. This is a well-balanced team that does not have one superstar, but they do have a lot of good players who know their roles.

Minnesota, meanwhile, enters this game as No. 1 in the AL Central. Minnesota is 25-23, holding a 2.5-game lead over the Tigers. The Central has been the worst division in baseball this year, and Minnesota should have a good opportunity to win the division. When fully healthy, Minnesota has one of the best lineups in baseball, and they will look to bounce back after a lackluster offensive performance yesterday.

We should see a good pitching matchup tonight as the Giants send Alex Cobb to the mound. Opposing Cobb will be veteran right-hander Sonny Gray.

I am going to trust the Twins tonight on the money line. I believe that Alex Cobb is due to regress from his numbers. We faded Cobb, and he struggled the last time he did vs. the Phillies, and I expect similar results from Cobb tonight. This Twins lineup has struggled over the last couple of games, and I expect them to break out today.

On the flip side, Sonny Gray has been lights out this year, and after a poor start going just four innings against the Dodgers, I feel he will be sharp today against this below-average Giants lineup.
