After six losses in their previous ten games, the Atlanta Braves are quietly still ten games over .500. Maybe the public is tired of the Braves being really good because I haven’t heard nearly enough Braves love this season. Atlanta is one of if not the best team in baseball. Tonight they welcome another top contender to Atlanta, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have been paying extremely well this month. Will Bryce Elder and the Braves snap out of their “cold spell” and hand Tony Gonsolin his second loss of the season?

Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction
Bryce Elder has been extremely impressive this season. The 24-year-old righty sports a 2.06 ERA and has yet to record a loss. The Braves have only lose two of Elder’s nine starts this year. Elder has done an incredible job of limiting barrels in May, allowing zero home runs in four starts. This is extremely important as Elder faces a Dodgers team tonight who’s second in MLB in home runs (81).
Tony Gonsolin picked up right where he left off when he returned from injury a few weeks into the 2023 season. The crafty veteran has lowed his ERA to 1.13 after three consecutive starts allowing zero earned runs. Walks have been an issue for Gonsolin, though, and Atlanta has been patient at the plate in 2023, top ten in walks. Expect Atlanta to take plenty of pitches, driving Gonsolin’s pitch count up and hopefully getting some free base runners out of it.
Matt Olson hasn’t hit a home run all week, but is currently sitting at (+255) on DraftKings to go yard tonight. Don’t these odds seem a little short for a guy who hasn’t gotten a hit in this series facing one of the best pitchers in baseball tonight? Back Olson to go yard and carry this Braves’ offense as the Braves avoid a dreaded sweep at their home ballpark. Olson’s odds to go yard is this short for a reason; expect him to take Gonsolin deep in this one.
