There is only one early game today, but I see value in it. We’ll keep this one short and sweet so you all have as much time to place it as possible.

Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction

On the mound for Chicago is Justin Steele. He is the main man we are trusting with our coin today. Although Cincinnati hits lefties better than righties, I like for him to be serviceable enough today to have a decent outing. We just need a clean second and not to lose by 5+. He hasn’t lost by 5+ all year and in 24 of his last 25 starts. He has a stellar 2.20 ERA on the year in 61.1 innings of work.

We also need three outs from Hunter Greene. He is an interesting talent who can throw 105 MPH and have flashes of greatness. On the flip side, he has his outings where he’s serving up more meatballs than your local Olive Garden. Today I like for him to at least get us through a clean second. Chicago has only scored in the second inning three times in their last 22 games.

So a 19/22 recent hit rate for Chicago not scoring in the second is great, right? Cincinnati has only scored in the second inning once in the whole month of May! A 21/22 hit rate for Cincinnati not scoring is remarkable. The NRSI has over an 80% chance of hitting based on monthly hit rates and disregarding pitching matchups. With that being said, I like our matchups, and the wind is seemingly helping us here. With a total of just seven runs, I feel confident! Let's roll!
