The Los Angeles Angels stay home for another series as the Miami Marlins come into town. The Angels have started picking up some good momentum fresh off a 3-0 sweep of the Boston Red Sox, while the Marlins come into this series after a loss to the Colorado Rockies. The Marlins continue on their road trip to Angel Stadium tonight and are underdogs in the opener, with the Angels listed as the -140 favorites.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Miami Marlins Prediction
The Marlins will start with Jesus Luzardo, who has a 3-3 record with a 3.83 ERA on the season. Luzardo is coming off a loss against the San Francisco Giants, giving up six runs in five innings in a 5-7 loss. Luzardo's numbers are much worse on the road this season, with a 5.91 ERA on the road in four starts and a 2.57 ERA at home in six starts. Luzardo has the tough challenge of going up against an Angels lineup that ranks 6th in the MLB in both average and OPS against left-handed pitching.
On the other hand, the Angels will start Reid Detmers, who has a 0-3 record with a 4.87 ERA on the season. Detmers has been inconsistent all season, but this is a good spot for him to get back on track. The Marlins' best hitter, Luis Arraez, who leads the league with a .371 batting average, is banged up and did not start yesterday. He is unlikely to start today, which is a big blow to the lineup for the Marlins. Jazz Chisholm and Jesus Sanchez are also out right now for the Marlins, which puts their lineup in a disadvantageous position on this long road trip.
The Marlins have not had an off day since May 15th, and they are coming off a series loss to the Rockies on the road. Now they travel to Anaheim on no rest, while the Angels just had yesterday off. The Marlins were also in a close, high-scoring game yesterday, where they had to use six bullpen pitchers and still lost the game, leaving the bullpen very thin for this series opener tonight. This will be a disadvantage for the Marlins, and the fatigue factor could come into play if they have to go to the bullpen early.
On the other hand, the Angels have been playing great baseball at home and are 15-10 in Angel Stadium. They have won four in a row at home and just swept the Red Sox, so they have a lot of momentum coming into this series. With the Marlins coming in on no rest, the Angels have a rest and momentum advantage in this game.
I have to take the Angels here, especially under -150. The line is where it is because Luzardo looks like the much better starter, and Detmers has struggled. Still, the Angles have more advantages in this game with injuries, rest, and home field, and they also crush left-handed pitching, so this is a game they should take easily.
