The No. 9 prospect in the Yankees organization will take the mound for New York in a fill-in role. This is due to Domingo German's suspension. Therefore, he's unlikely to last in the rotation unless Vazquez throws a perfect game.
He's a right-handed thrower with a 4.85 ERA in AAA to accompany his 1-5 record. Vasquez will have good stuff, including a nasty curveball. But he might be getting the call-up a little too early.
Lefties like Juan Soto and Rougned Odor have crushed righties over the last 30 days. Juan Soto has a .311 ISO and wOBA of .470 against his last 77 righties. Meanwhile, Odor has a .286 ISO and wOBA of .382 over his last 31 plate appearances against righties. Look for those two to take advantage of the young Vasquez.
