This bet is simple, but I love it. We’re not paying much juice, and we get to back the man with Framber Valdez. He has the fifth-best ERA in all of baseball with a 2.38, and he has already dominated this Angels lineup this season. On May 9th, he pitched eight innings of one run baseball against them, only allowing three hits in the process.
Valdez's lifetime against these Angels bats has held them to a .229 average, with guys like Trout being 2-16 against him and Ohtani being 4-28 against him. Valdez loves facing this team, and he has been on a tear this season. It feels like a no-brainer to back him.
We aren’t just backing him, though; we need some runs. I think Reid Detmers is a nice talent for LA; with that being said, he had a 5.02 ERA against Houston last year. This year he has a 4.93 ERA and hasn’t accumulated a single win all season. Last outing, he allowed ten hits against the Miami Marlins; he’s just not throwing his best stuff.
Houston gets to remain at home after their series with the Minnesota Twins, and Los Angeles had to travel last night from their series in Chicago against the White Sox. I’m expecting the better-rested Astros to have an early lead, and I love the price we’re getting for it. Let's hope the Astros can do just that for us, and let's roll!
