5 minTexas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction: Should You Fade Nathan Eovaldi, Rangers?
Nathan Eovaldi is coming off one of the best months of his career. The veteran flamethrower has noticed an uptick in his velocity from last season, an impressive feat at age 33. In May, Eovaldi pitched over 37 innings and allowed only four runs, with 31 strikeouts over that span. The Texas Rangers won four of Eovaldi’s five starts, resulting in an AL Pitcher of the Month award for the Texas veteran.

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction
Tonight, Nathan Eovaldi faces the struggling Seattle Mariners, who are barely sitting at .500. Bryce Miller will be on the bump for Seattle as he looks to bounce back from the worst start of his young career. Miller got rocked by the New York Yankees last week, giving up 11 hits and eight runs in less than five innings of work. Before that start, Miller owned a 1.15 ERA and was starting to hear some AL Rookie of the Year hype. Miller has been exceptional so far, and I expect him to bounce back tonight.
Not only have the Rangers been the hottest team in baseball, they now own the second best record in MLB behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Don’t get me wrong, this Rangers team is good, but are they as good as they’ve been playing in May? We’ve seen this movie before with the Rangers, they have one insane month and everybody expects them to stay relevant for the rest of the season. I’m willing to bet that this team starts to regress in June as we head into the dog days of summer, and the Mariners are a team I have circled to back over the coming weeks as their offense continues to improve.
This bet is not for the faint of heart. Nobody wakes up on a Sunday morning and wants to fade the Rangers, especially with how great they’ve played in May. Although Eovaldi has been impressive, let’s not forget he started out hot last season before getting rocked over the summer.
The Rangers are by far the most public side on the MLB slate this Sunday. Over 85% of bets and 90% of handle are currently backing the Rangers to defeat Bryce Miller and the Mariners tonight, resulting in significant line movement towards Texas. I don’t care about the line move; when 90% of handle is backing a team, the line is going to move.
What caught my eye was the (+100) opener on the moneyline for the Mariners yesterday. You’re telling me Bryce Miller coming off an eight run bloodbath against the Yankees opened up only (+100) against the best pitcher in the American League last month? I can’t ignore this insanely short opening line, and I will be fading the public with a Mariners moneyline ticket. Julio Rodriguez has played great over the last 15 games, with a .344 average and 11 RBIs. Expect him to set the tone early at the top of the lineup for Seattle tonight.
