Pittsburgh Pirates vs Oakland Athletics Prediction: Can James Kaprielian, Athletics Cool Down the Hot Pirates?

The Pittsburgh Pirates started the season red hot, and although they cooled off in the middle stretch of this young season, they seem to be back on track with six straight wins and an opportunity to keep that run going tonight against the worst baseball team.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

The Oakland Athletics held a 3-0 lead in the game yesterday before the team and the awful bullpen gave away the lead in a game the Pirates went on to win by a run. I expect the 32-27 Pirates to take care of this 12-50 Athletics team easily tonight.

Mitch Kellar has been electric this season with 93 Ks, a 1.08 WHIP, and a 3.23 ERA (which improves to a 2.18 ERA at PNC Park), and the Pirates are 9-3 behind him on the season. James Kaprielian has an entirely, almost polar opposite season that pretty much falls right in line with everything the Athletics have done this season. Through just 37 and 2/3 innings of work, he has conceded 46 hits and 21 walks, leading to 34 earned runs and an abysmal 8.12 ERA.

Pittsburgh's winning record at home is nothing phenomenal at 16-13, but it is over the .500 mark, and they are 4-1 in home games with Keller on the mound. The Pirates are 5-26 on the road and are playing out a season that is over before the all-star break has even hit.
