We have plenty of action on today’s MLB slate, and what better way to celebrate than by betting on one of the best teams in baseball? While the Texas Rangers may not have started the season this high in the power rankings, they are proving day by day that they are one of the strongest teams in baseball. Check out how I’m betting on them today.

One of my favorite bets for today’s slate is Marcus Semien over 1.5 total bases. Semien has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball this season, and we love playing players coming in with lots of momentum. Semien is one of those guys that you normally don’t just want to play for a hit because it goes far when he hits the ball. He also benefits from playing at the top of one of the most dangerous offenses in baseball.
The Rangers have been a top-three home-hitting baseball club this year, with Semien hitting .301. He also has very good splits against both lefties and righties, hitting .300 versus left-handed pitching this season. While Tyler Anderson has been better against lefties, he’s allowing right-handed hitters to hit .283 this season. The changeup has been his most important pitch, and Semien happens to slug .500 against it this season.
Anderson has struggled with walks all year long but really can’t afford to mess around against this Rangers lineup. He is allowing a 40% flyball rate against right-handed batters while only striking out 10% of them. This is a recipe for disaster and something the Rangers lineup should be able to take care of. I think a couple of people are in positions to go deep tonight, and definitely think it’s worth a sprinkle.
Since Josh Jung has been so good against lefties, he was also a home run sprinkle for me today. While the rookie started the season a bit slow, he’s been a powerful lefty-killer over the last couple of months. Jung is hitting/slugging .317/.633 versus left-handed pitching this season, significantly better than versus righties. At +400, he’s definitely worth a bet.
