In today’s article, I take you through one of my favorite plays on today’s slate. With so many good games available, we take advantage of some elite pitchers going against subpar hitting, and some very talented hitters in good spots.

As a Nationals fan, I can sit here all day and list numerous reasons why you probably shouldn’t bet on us on any given day, but I think it’s especially easy when you're going against Luis Castillo. I have very little faith in the Washington offense against a pitcher of Castillo's quality, especially on a long road trip. I’m expecting Castillo to go very deep into this game. Castillo possesses a 4-2 record with a 2.03 ERA at home this season, which has been much more impressive than his road performances.
While the Nationals do become semi-beatable on days with Gray and Gore on the mound, it becomes a lot easier to bet against them on days with Trevor Williams on the mound. Williams has a 4.14 ERA allowing 80 hits and 14 HRs in 76 innings pitched this season. While the Mariners' offense isn’t the most intimidating on the planet, they should be able to score enough to get the job done.
Picking a batter to pair with the Nationals wasn’t too hard with so many good options on the list. I’m going with a guy who became the first player to hit 20 doubles and 20 homers on the season, Luis Robert. Even before the power was going, he has constantly crushed left-handed pitching over the last couple of seasons. The White Sox lineup isn't the strongest in the world, but he does have some solid consistency around him.
Last year he hit over .320 vs. left-handed pitching, and that’s improved to .368 with an insane .737 slugging. He has very good pitch splits against Detmers, who has been inconsistent on the season. While we do have two solid pitchers on the mound, I think there might be a surprising amount of offense in tonight’s matchup
