Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction

After making the playoffs as the youngest team in baseball, it hasn’t been the season the Guardians expected. Cleveland has struggled against left-handed pitching in 2023, but this lineup crushes lefties historically. Tonight, it looks like they will face Austin Cox, the 26-year-old lefty who is scheduled to open for the Royals. In over ten innings of work, Cox has yet to allow a run. Why is this total moving up after yesterday’s 2-1 final?

Austin Cox has been great for the Royals, but you can’t expect him to keep this scoreless streak going for much longer. This Guardians team, mainly Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor, have played much better of late. This offense is starting to get going, and a matchup against a young lefty could be exactly what the Guardians need for an offensive outburst.

Logan Allen’s stats look great on paper, but the young lefty has struggled with his command recently. Yes, he pitched a shutout in his last outing, but the 24-year-old was only able to make it through four innings. Allen has walked more batters over his last three starts than he did in all of May. It seems like the young starter is experiencing some growing pains in his rookie season, and the Royals should benefit from his recent erratic stretch.

The Royals aren’t good, but they hit well against left-handed pitching. Expect the Royals’ bats to show up tonight after putting up one measly run in the series opener. With the total on the rise, bet the over and watch these offenses shine.
