Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prop Bets: Can James Outman Shine in Colorado?

James Outman has cooled off after an incredible first two months of his MLB career. The Los Angeles Dodgers rookie carried a .165 batting average in May and hasn’t been much better in June. Although he already has nine home runs before the All-Star break, Outman has yet to hit a home run in June. You’d have to be a crazy person to bet him to hit a home run tonight, right?

Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction

As a contrarian, I get told my bets look crazy almost daily. The fact that Outman hasn’t hit a home run this month only makes me like the bet even more. There are plenty of baseball-related reasons why Outman is getting out of his cold spell and hitting a home run tonight…

For starters, the Dodgers play the Colorado Rockies tonight at Coors Field with a total set at 12. There will be plenty of offense in this game tonight; we saw 17 runs in last night’s affair. Secondly, Chase Anderson got rocked for 16 runs in his last start, allowing five home runs. Anderson has allowed ten home runs this month alone. This one might get ugly for the Rockies…

Outman’s odds to hit a home run tonight are also shorter than I expected. At (+425), Outman is the same odds as CJ Cron and Nolan Jones to “go yard” tonight. His odds are shorter than Will Smith (+450) and barely longer than Freddie Freeman at (+400). It looks like the oddsmakers are expecting an Outman home run tonight too.

Although Outman has a better batting average against left-handed pitchers, he has significantly more power against right-handers. Eight of Outman’s nine home runs and 18 of his 22 XBHs this season have come off RHP. Facing a struggling Anderson and Rockies bullpen, this could be a perfect storm for Outman to go yard tonight. If you’re looking for a “safer” play, his odds to score a run are (-110) on the books, and he’s also up on many of the DFS platforms.
