Well, I have gotten rolled trying to back the San Diego Padres in the last week, but the totals with the Cincinnati Reds have been solid. So tonight, we will dive right into game one of this weekend's series between the two squads.

Cincinnati Reds vs. San Diego Padres Prediction
San Diego has now dropped five straight and squandered a great opportunity to get back to .500 this past week in two more than favorable matchups with the Washington Nationals and the Pittsburgh Pirates. For a team with the talent that San Diego has combined with the amount of money spent, there is no reason to be dropping so many games to inferior opponents.
They now head into this game 10.5 games back in the NL West and seven games under .500 at 37-44. I expect the bats to wake up (if they can do so) tonight in the series' opening game in a favorable match-up at a hitters ballpark. George Ashcroft has been brutal this season, sporting a 7.17 ERA with a 3-7 record.
After a couple of losses, Cincinnati has been swinging the sticks well and snapped their 12-game win streak. They rebounded well with two wins over a really talented Baltimore Orioles squad which should not be taken lightly. They are in a ballpark tonight that historically is very good to hitters, and I expect a similar result tonight. The over is my favorite wager in this game, and I think we have a chance to hit it quite comfortably.
