Washington Nationals vs. Cincinnati Reds Best Bet: Expect the Bats to Get to Jake Irvin, Luke Weaver

Don’t look now, but the Washington Nationals just won their last three-road series. The Nats’ bats are hot again, led by two All-Star snubs in Lane Thomas and Jeimer Candelario. These bats won’t be slowing down on Monday night against Luke Weaver and the Cincinnati Reds.

Washington Nationals vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction

When Luke Weaver pitches, the Reds typically win in a high-scoring affair. The Reds won all five of Weaver’s starts in June, with 89 total runs in those five games. It is impressive the Reds have been able to keep up offensively when Weaver scores, but some pitchers have better luck with run production than others.

Jake Irvin is in a similar boat to Weaver, where in games he pitches, there are plenty of runs from teams. The only difference: the Nationals don’t win when Irvin pitches. The Nationals have lost seven of Irvin’s previous eight starts. I will say, the young righty has looked better over his last three starts, where he’s only allowed five earned runs in nearly 17 innings pitched.

These offenses aren’t slowing down any time soon. You could have put this total at 20 and I would still be taking the over. Both teams’ bullpens have struggled mightily of late besides the closers, so runs should be coming throughout the game.

These are two of the scrappiest young offenses in baseball. Yes, the Nationals stink and have one of the worst records in baseball, but that isn’t the offense’s fault. The Nats can score. It’s their starting rotation and mainly their bullpen that’s been suspect.

Back both of these offenses to put on a show in DC tonight. There are fireworks scheduled for the postgame in celebration of the 4th of July, but you may not have to wait until the game’s completion to see fireworks in this one. Back two of the hottest offenses in baseball to continue their dominance as they both put up crooked numbers against struggling starters/bullpens.
