With Jacob deGrom sidelined, someone needed to step up and be the ace of the Rangers' starting rotation. Nathan Eovaldi has been just that, an ace. Coming off a seven-inning, two-hit shutout against the Houston Astros, Eovaldi is on pace to have the best season in his 12th year in the big leagues.
There’s no chance the Red Sox, barely over .500, beat their old teammate during his best season, right? Well… the Rangers, one of the best teams in baseball, barely opened up as the favorite against Kutter Crawford and the Red Sox tonight. I’m not saying the Red Sox will beat the Rangers tonight (although I do lean that way.) I do think this total is very high for a game Eovaldi is pitching in, though. The Red Sox might not win tonight, but they will score against their former teammate tonight.
The Rangers’ offense should have no trouble putting up some runs against Kutter Crawford, whose name is better than his pitching. Although he’s pitched better of late, Crawford still owns a 3.92 ERA and has gave up eight runs against the measly Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox in June. Fade Crawford against this potent Rangers’ offense.
This total opened at 9.5, which I already thought was high. With less than 50% of bets and handle backing the over, the total has now moved to 10. The over is 24-19-1 at Fenway Park this season, back both offenses to find success in Boston tonight.
