New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles Best Bet: Will Kyle Bradish, Orioles Get to Yankees?
This current series between the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees has been very back-and-forth, with multiple late-inning comebacks from each side. Can Luis Severino get back on track tonight, or will the Orioles spoil that? Let’s break it down.

The talent for Luis Severino has always been there, but historically his issues have been with staying healthy and on the field instead of any on-the-field woes. Severino has put up very solid numbers when he has been healthy over the last few seasons, but now he is finally healthy but has been struggling mightily over the last month.

New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction
Over his last six starts, Severino has only had one where he allowed less than three earned runs and has an ERA of just under 9.00. Severino’s strikeout rate has also been considerably lower over that period as well, which indicates that his stuff has not been as sharp as we are accustomed to seeing from him. Walks have been a big issue too. He has averaged over two walks per start over his last six starts and has failed to pitch past the fifth inning in all of those appearances except one.
It is unclear why Severino is having these struggles. Still, things will not get easier for him tonight against an Orioles lineup that is primed to breakout after a fairly lackluster offensive performance in the first three games of this series. In the first three games against Clarke Schmidt, Randy Velasquez, and Domingo German, the Orioles were only able to muster up five earned runs against these starters and did a lot of their damage against the bullpen.
I fully expect the Orioles to break out of this early-inning slump against Severino, who is searching for answers in his own right. Another thing I find peculiar about this game is that the Orioles are fairly considerate favorites in Yankee Stadium against one of their proverbial aces in Severino.
I’ve highlighted his recent struggles, but one would think Severino would get the benefit of the doubt from the books on some positive regression coming soon, but they do not seem to see it like that.
Kyle Bradish is going for the Orioles in this one. While he is having a solid season, he doesn’t have the historical success of Severino, so it is a bit surprising to see him so heavily favored on the road against a team he has only had marginal success against.
That said, I am rolling with Baltimore F5 ML for 1.5u as my most confident MLB play of the day. I think Baltimore will get to Severino early and often, while Bradish should be able to keep the Yankees in check long enough to take the lead into the sixth inning.
