It's hot in so many areas tonight. That won't benefit pitchers when balls are flying out of the yard.
But we don't have to take overs when we're betting strikeout props. We can take unders too, especially when we believe that a pitcher isn't going to last long on the mound.
Here are three strikeout props to consider for tonight's MLB slate.
July 7 Best MLB Strikeout Props
Daniel Lynch Under 3.5 Ks -120 is currently the best odds. Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick
Daniel Lynch struck out just 11.8% of batters last month. He's only earned 10.9% of strikeouts against righties over the last 30 days.
The Guardians will have at least six righties in the lineup facing Lynch. As a lineup, the team has struck out just 18.8% of the time against lefties. Only two batters have struck out more than 20% of the time against lefties.
Lynch hasn't been awful over the last month. But the Guardians are always tough outs and consistently put the ball in play. I'll take Lynch's Under.
Luis Castillo Under 5.5 Ks +116 is currently the best odds. Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick
Luis Castillo has earned 25.2% of strikeouts over the last 30 days. That's lower than his season average of 27.9% strikeouts.
He's still struck out 28.1% of righties in the last 30 days and will face eight righties in the Astros' lineup. Yet, still, I think he goes Under his total.
The Astros' projected lineup has combined to strike out just 19.4% of the time. They've got six batters striking out 21.2% of the time or lower against righties in the last month.
Plus, Castillo has allowed a .283 ISO and wOBA of .361 to his last 127 batters faced. The Astros have six batters hitting a wOBA of .314 or better and five batters hitting an SIO of .161 or better. That should help kick Castillo off the mound earlier than normal.
Jordan Montgomery Over 5.5 Ks +104 is currently the best odds. Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick
The White Sox have struck out 25.2% of the time against lefties using their projected lineup over the last month. Chicago even has two batters striking out 42.9% of the time or more on 14+ plate appearances against lefties. Meanwhile, Jordon Montgomery is a lefty, earning 24.8% of strikeouts over the last month. His strikeout numbers are trending up from 22% on the season. He's also held teams to a .103 ISO and wOBA of .238 over the last month. Montgomery should go at least six innings. If he earns one strikeout per inning, that would be enough. I wouldn't even be surprised if Montgomery went seven innings against this White Sox team. In the last month, Chicago has six batters hitting a wOBA of .306 or worse against lefties. The White Sox are not appealing against lefties, and Montgomery will prove that tonight.
