I love taking these bets. It doesn’t matter if we get a strikeout, groundout, or flyout. Logan Gilbert to go 6+ innings seems completely fair because he’s 11 out of 17 on the year. In his last start, he threw a complete game which is wildly impressive.
Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction
He completed this in four out of four games against the Houston Astros last year in the regular season. Tonight Houston will still be without their best slugger, Yordan Alvarez, which really helps us out. Every Seattle Mariners pitcher in the first three games in this series has gone six or more innings. Luis Castillo, Bryan Woo, and George Kirby did their thing; now it’s Gilbert's turn.
Houston is bottom three in the MLB at pitches per plate appearance, so they get quick outs swinging early in counts. Gilbert has only averaged 4.5 strikeouts over his last six starts, so I’m hoping for lots of groundouts and flyouts early in the count. The 26-year-old is better on the road with a respectable 3.49 ERA over ten starts.
He has a nice history versus these Astros bats and has shown to do this often on occasion. I like Gilbert to go exactly six innings before getting pulled here. Let's keep it going, and let's roll!
