After getting swept by the Atlanta Braves last week, the Minnesota Twins held a team meeting to discuss their struggles in the first half of the season. Many of their stars have been underperforming, which is common for struggling teams to rally around to attempt to pull it together. Since that meeting, the Twins have beaten the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game series in Baltimore and swept the Kansas City Royals at home. They’ve since welcomed the Orioles to Target Field and lost the first two games of this series. Will Joe Ryan salvage this series and continue the Twins’ positive momentum heading into the All-Star break?

Minnesota Twins vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction
I’ve kept my eye on the Twins ever since they held that team meeting last week. I’ve backed them a few times since the meeting and will be taking them once again in their final game before the break. This team finally has some positive momentum, as well as a favorable matchup against Kyle Gibson this afternoon.
Gibson was great for the O’s at the start of the season, and then June hit. The Orioles have only won one of Gibson’s six starts since June, where he’s owned a 6.84 ERA and allowed 19 runs in 25 innings of work. The veteran righty is trending downward as we hit the halfway point of the season.
The Twins’ offense is nothing special, but as long as they’re facing a right-hander, they have a chance. Against lefties, they are one of the worst offenses in baseball, but against righties, this team can hit. The Orioles have no dominant lefties in their bullpen, giving an advantage to the Twins.
Joe Ryan has rebounded since his blow-up start against the Braves in June. We’ll give him a pass for that start, and it was in Atlanta against one of the most potent offenses in baseball. The Orioles have struggled mightily on offense for the greater part of a month. Expect Ryan to dominate once again, much like he did against the Royals last week.
The Twins barely opened up the betting favorite against the O’s this afternoon but have since moved to (-150) on the moneyline. This is a significant move, considering Minnesota is currently getting less than 45% of the bets (on DraftKings). Continue to back the Twins, as they seem to have new life after the team meeting they held last week, and fade this struggling Orioles’ offense. Minnesota isn’t getting swept at home with their young stud on the mound.
