Yesterday, the Washington Nationals’ offense exploded for eight runs in a win against the Texas Rangers. There were five home runs combined in that game, as Nats Park looked very hitter-friendly. With Patrick Corbin on the mound today, we could see more than five home runs in this early MLB game.

Washington Nationals vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
Patrick Corbin looked solid earlier in the season, especially in May when the Nats won five of his six starts, and he owned a 4.21 ERA. Corbin has recently regressed, allowing 48 hits over his last six starts. The Nats’ veteran lefty has looked extremely hittable recently, and it won’t get much easier against one of the best offenses in baseball on Sunday.
The Rangers just got embarrassed on Saturday, allowing eight runs in the first three innings. Their bullpen locked down the Nationals’ offense for the remainder of the game, but Texas was never able to get the offense going. They have one more opportunity before the All-Star break to end their recent skid with a win.
Dane Dunning has pitched great for the Rangers this season, carrying a 2.61 ERA through 86.1 innings. The young righty has put up great numbers over his last four starts, allowing no more than two runs in four quality starts. If Dunning has pitched so great, why is his hits-allowed prop set at 6.5, just like Corbin?
I don’t see this Nationals’ offense slowing down in a day game with the most hitter-friendly ballpark conditions out of any game today (per @BallParkPal). With the total opening at 10 and moving up to 10.5 with less than 40% of bets and handle backing the over, this could be the sharpest play on the slate.
Davey Martinez moving CJ Abrams into the leadoff spot was a questionable decision, but it has paid off for the Nationals so far. Abrams has injected new energy into the top of this Nationals’ lineup, with Lane Thomas hitting second to drive him in. Abrams has a great matchup against Dunning tonight; expect this Nationals offense to shine once again with their new batting lineup.
The Rangers might score ten runs this afternoon. Patrick Corbin hasn’t looked great recently, and if that slider isn’t biting against this potent lineup, he could be in for another brutal outing. Back this Rangers lineup to bounce back after an embarrassing loss against the Nationals yesterday.
With this total on the rise, bet the over before it gets any higher. Both offenses should thrive in extremely favorite hitting conditions in this 12:05 pm ET MLB Sunday opener. Don’t be scared off by this high total; this bet should cash by the seventh-inning stretch.
